Lotus Garden Newsletter for Homesteaders. 3rd February 2021

A new month already? I'm rather missing @simplymike's garden journal challenge, but wish her wellness and hope she's back soon. I'm sure we can still share our gardens and use that tag she's nurtured to keep it warm, though.

Some highlights of the week

With more and more people looking at finding new ways to recycle, upcycle and reuse what would normally be thrown away, I was impressed to see some great ideas for making plant pots out of rubbish with surprisingly professional looking finishes to them. First up was @sarimanok's empty cooking oil containers. I actually thought they were clay pots!

Next was @jmcmeekin's old food tin pebble containers. While I'm not personally fond of the bright colours, they can be any colour you want, really.

It's not just people who can get bored. @knownassam has been having to find ways to entertain the cattle in order to keep them from destroying the fencing this winter. You might be surprised at what things have helped. Okay, the picture gives you some clues...

@deepu7 works in quality control and discusses the testing of safe chemical levels in the products we wear and eat. What they've learnt is the reason why they look to organic methods when it comes to growing their own food.

Excellent posts @tipu curate

Hello everyone I was on Steemit a while back and I am relatively new here on Hive mostly due to the fact that this past year has been a little rocky as it probably has been for many others. I refuse to be knocked down and trampled so here I am. The cold and snow is flying but I decided to start garden planning today. I have an eclectic garden with many pollinator friendly perennials with fruits and vegetables scattered about. I have a bee hive and in the center of it all is a labyrinth. I have a passion for clinical herbalism and make my own herbal tinctures from the garden. I am looking forward to reading your posts and learning from all of you.
