“What is the importance of self-inquiry in relation to wellness?”

Yesterday I answered a question about self-awareness and today I am answering one about self enquiry.( all part of the latest Natural Medicne Challenge) As I sit here thinking on this, I realise that perhaps I should have started with self enquiry first!

Why?

Because in order to get to know oneself, you have to ask ourselves questions, questions that allows us to peel back the many layers of who we are. Questions that are quite open-ended, but are also more revealing about our true nature. We can ask these questions at different times of our life, even on different days and depending on what we’re doing and how we are feeling, The answer will usually always be different each time.

One popular question to ask yourself is who am I in this moment right now who am I? I am human I am an mother I am a woman I am a being sitting outside under the night sky admiring the stars.
I am recognizing myself on the surface I am identifying with my body I’m acknowledging the external layer of who I am?

I’m acknowledging my role in this world as another and also identify my joy and wonder at sitting outside in nature but I am more than these things.

I am wild, I am connected to the Earth, to the moon and the subtle energies within the world. I stand here, connected to all other life forms. I am a part of the great cycle of life and I have my rightful place on these magnificent earth, just as every other living thing does. And this, this gives me such a sense of freedom and joy, such a wonderful sense of oneness with all.

I am a powerful being, a strong and passionate warrior woman who is very protective of her young and her rightful home, this earth!

Self enquiry enables us to check-in on ourselves, to prioritize our feelings, our emotions and our insights. Making us take the time for ourselves, focusing on building a better relationship with self.

This leads to much more awareness and when we are more aware we are better able to make the correct choices, choices allowing us to heal and move forward in life .

I spoke in more detail yesterday about self awareness and how important it is, for our well being. This post is about how we start that journey, about how we become more aware. By getting in touch with our true self, so that we can reveal to ourselves who we really are.

As we undergo this reveal, we can come upon things that are painful and upsetting, It is important to embrace those aspects of our self, to embrace the pain that we have unearthed. As this leads to greater understanding and allows us to connect more with who we are.

The more questions we ask ourselves, the more we inquire, the easier we are able to let go of our superficial layer, to drop the mask that we sometimes wear. A mask that has been placed upon us by society, by this desire to fit in or by the simple desire to be desired by others.

Like I said before we are made up of many layers and it can take awhile to peel of the top layers so that we can finally connect with our true self, so that we can connect with what really makes us happy and discover what our true purpose is.

What is really important though, is to remember that we do change. Every experience that we go through in life changes us, we are constantly learning and growing. So it is only natural that our needs and our purpose will change as time goes on, as we learn more and more about ourselves, we need to continue to ask ourselves questions to check in on ourselves, to self inquire?

We also get to choose the questions we ask ourselves, so it is important to recognize the power that lies behind asking each question. Because we have this amazing opportunity to ask ourselves empowering questions, so that as we answer them we can begin to tap into our true potential.

So that we can become more aware and more balanced!

I love this idea of layering in our Being - you explain it well. Yes, peeling back, or rather resisting the urge to step back from the natural processes which slough it off. How beautiful that the serpent is the symbol of healing, and is also the peeler of skins. I wonder if the serpent ponders the releasing?

thank you @artemislives and yes the serpent, I feel so blessed when I see one, to me they are such a good omen. I have one living next to my gate at the moment, it is quite large too. It has hissed at a few people, but never seems to bother those who come in to visit only those who are passing by xxx

The more questions we ask ourselves, the more we inquire, the easier we are able to let go of our superficial layer, to drop the mask that we sometimes wear. A mask that has been placed upon us by society, by this desire to fit in or by the simple desire to be desired by others.

Very true!!!

Irrespective of the order in which you chose to do these posts, you hit the nail on the head in matters of fact.

@trucklife-family, I am passionate about these types of topics, in my opinion, The first manifestation that we are waking up in consciousness is when we begin to look within ourselves and ask ourselves questions, about what is supposedly hidden about who we really are, what is our role on this planet. What are we doing here? Am I only here to work, eat, sleep and eventually die? Any type of question that we ask ourselves is good, because the answers always come, which in turn generate other questions, and thus, it is the only way to evolve in consciousness, but the most important thing is that all the answers are within oneself. And that happens when we connect with our true inner being. Therefore, there are no wrong questions because they are all going to lead us to an ever-widening opening of consciousness. When we are interested in acquiring information and we are open to receive it, the universe will conspire in your favor to make it so.

Well said! And that is a great question to inquire of yourself - who am I? to dig deep, going through the layers until it is your true self you connect with! Getting to know yourself and how empowering it can be! I appreciate you sharing so we can get to know you better too!
