Last night with The Daughter before she leaves for Uni, and the foodie she is, we had to take her out for a nice meal. Afterall she had hardly stepped out of the house the last 6 months she's been back and she will probably be stuck in her dorm for a bit.
This girl is adventurous with food and will try almost anything at least once. However, today was not a day for the unfamiliar but more of a favourite.
Just in case we got kicked out with closing time approaching fast, we whizzed through the menu, each one choosing one dish (as is the rule of thumb when ordering in a group and since the kids are older, why not...) minus one because my youngest and I are not big eaters.
Papaya Salad with Salted Egg
Thai basil chicken which was very spicy, so a couple of the kids needed plenty of water top-ups
Stir fried Kangkong(Morning Glory) with garlic
Green Curry Beef to complete the Thai experience
Steamed Bass in lemon sauce which is a favourite amongst all of us
The food was good and we enjoyed the conversation. She is a little reluctant to leave because of the quarantine and SOPs. We are unsure if she will be able to come back for the next festive season which is Hari Raya Aidilfitri in May. We are also not allowed to visit. So I understand her mood, but it is what it is and we have to take it one day at a time.
Hope your eyes enjoyed the food. Thank you for reading.
Till next time, Carpe Diem!

Kangkooong, I cook them often.
Oh, seems you have a good time with your family :) That was an unlucky moment but then find another fav one :)
Kangkong Belacan - one of the best :D

So envious of you guys going out to eat 🙃 and I really should not be reading foodie posts before I go to bed...
The things we took for granted - so crazy right?
That looks delicious… and daughters adventurous in food as I should be, but I see a few items on here the next time I've tried Thai I may get experimental with. Best wishes go out to your daughter that she goes back to school. My heart goes out to all young people who are dealing with school in college in this pandemic environment. One day at a time and I am sure it will make them stronger adults in the future. Graduated to get out and get some nice food Beautiful photos!
I too need to be more like her
These are crazy times for the young, for all of us ...
But there will adapt - we all do... I guess
Family time is always good, regardless where it is.
True that
And somehow girls (well, at least mine compared to the boys) are more appreciative of the times we spend together, or perhaps it's just the way they express it ...

Wow off to college. I definitely understand why she’s reluctant. I hope she will be okay and things will work out smoother than expected.
Wow that food looks so yummy! It’s such a blessing you all were able to gather together out to eat to spend those moments with her before she heads off.
How are feeling about it mama? You holding up?
She was until she got there haha
And now I am the one messaging her, checking up on her to see if she is ok
I am also preparing for the boys to go back to physical school on Monday, so that's kept me busy...
They will always be our babies
Haha that's so funny. Well I'm glad she's okay.
Oh wow yes I bet. You have a lot going on mama!
Yes they will always be ~ 🤗
I understand the reluctance of not wanting to leave, or really, wanting to leave, but the uncertainty is a little unnerving.
What a wonderful feast for her send-off!! I send best wishes to her!
Thank you Denise <33
You know, she was all upset until she got there
And then she caught up with friends and that's it :D
I am so happy to hear that! It's scarier sitting home listening to the news about doom and gloom. I am absolutely sure that all her friends felt the same way. I'm so happy to hear that and thank you for telling me..
