Smashed Burgers || Homemade Patties

I came across this thing called Smashed Burger on social media. A Malaysian pilot who had been working for a middle-eastern airline was retrenched because of the pandemic. He came back and started a small-time business with his wife; a burger that they loved eating when they were there.

Social media highlighted his stall, and it looked so good. This was when we were not allowed to travel beyond 10kms. Though now we can, we had already planned to try making our own. I keep saying "we" but it really is The Hubs. My part is to go marketing and hold the camera.

If you like burgers, you absolutely have to give this a try especially if you like them well-done. "We" made ours from scratch, so you know what goes in...So let's do this.

Bought 2 kilos of Top Side for RM44. Came home and cut them into cubes, which is a bloody messy job. The Hubs enjoys cooking, I enjoy creating posts, it's a great partnership.

I recently invested in this cake mixer that comes with a meat grinder. First time using the grinder, and let's just say, my RM299.99 was well spent.

Then it was time for the spices.
Black Pepper
Salt
Paprika
Parsley
Cajun
Chili Garlic

Mix well and knead into balls.

We managed to make 21 patties. We chilled half for dinner and the other half in the freezer for another day.

At dinner time, we just used a pan to fry, a ladle with a flat bottom to smash, around 2 minutes on each side, and done.

It was so good! Served with tomatoes and lettuce on bread, we didn't even bother with sauces.
I am an occasional burger eater, but this one I ate more than usual
(not necessarily a good thing hehe)

Burgers turned out looking simply delicious, making your own you know what is going into the mix. Spicing to your taste, wonderful idea to try some time although my mincer is an old manual one, hope I have the muscle power to turn it 😉

It was really :D
I should be cutting down on red meat but I just couldn't help myself

I had one of the manual ones, I know what you mean...
So this was a breeze, it took me like 2 minutes

Thank you Joan for dropping in ;D

That looks so yummy @kaerpediem , I always make my own patties, it tastes so much better, will try your recipe, thank you for sharing.

This is the first time we are making it from scratch
Normally we would buy the minced meat and you are right, it tastes wayyyy better :D

I might need to try this! My burgers are so tiresome and just a big hunk of meat :( lol I like the spice blend you made I'll try tossing that in next time as I have them.

I think you will really like it ;D

Thank you @ackhoo & @qurator for the support <33

Look so delicious! 😋
Plus, it's homemade and those spices are hit in the middle.

Homemade is always the best :D
That's one thing the pandemic has made me do more of...

In every bad thing there is certain good one 😄
