Food Journal : Mochi Sakura, A Mysterious Bite

Hey Foodies!

It’s been a while since I shared my food journal but today I am back with a sweet, gooey, and mysterious rice cake. This soft gooey with mysterious flavor is called Mochi, a japanese rice cake made from glutinous rice, water, and sugar. It’s a bundle of sweet joy treats. I got a box of mochi because I was craving it from a place called Sakura mochi. The place sells mochi with various flavors. Each box costs from 3$ to 7$ with flavors that you can choose. It is one of the best mochi places in town where they also sell premium flavors.

As usual, I was ordering the mochi from my grabfood app. And I left a note to give me random flavors but chocolate. I was excited because it’s going to be a mysterious gooey bite.

When the mochi arrived, it was neatly packaged in a small box with the mochi on the front of the box. When I opened it, there were 6 mochis with different colors. I thought at first, the color would indicate the flavor but oh boy, I was wrong.

I tried one with purple color. It has something oozing from inside the mochi. I tried to guess the flavor but I don’t think I was correct. Since the box didn’t come with the list of the flavors, I was left guessing what flavors I was eating. But anyhow, I think it was worth the money. Oh yeah, if you eat the mochi, be prepared to get dirty as the flour is difficult to clean if it falls on clothes.

I found this place at the mall before. It looked luxurious and I wanted to get one. But that time, my mom wanted something else, so we chose the coconut pie instead of that soft gooey mochi. When I told my mom, I successfully made her regret the decision of getting the coconut pie instead of this box of mochi.

Also, I am not huge on desserts, so this was a bit difficult to write and I don’t think I have anything interesting to say about it. I prefer talking about main courses or some fascinating food with interesting spices and names. And… see you in my next food journal.

I have never eaten mochi, it looks like a small bun with a filling inside, it looks interesting. It's a strange thing when we eat something and try to guess the taste but can't identify it. For me it is an exotic dessert. Greetings.

Indeed, that looks like a small bun with melted oozy fillings. It was strange when I ate them. Some tasted like yam, some tasted like blueberries, some tasted like plain flour vanilla despite the color was yellow.

Woaaa, would love to have some now 😍 I often think of making them by myself but always eat all ice cream before making it happen ;)

Oh yeah, there's the ice ceam variant too. I love them but my poor teeth can't handle it, so I rarely eat it. You should try making ice cream mochi and show us how it's made and done :D

Yessss, I will take pictures and show you how to do that one day 😍 I have week teeth too, when I eat ice cream, mainly I use my tongue only ;)))

I recently bought Japanese matcha ice cream wrapped in this exact same gooey material. I have a sweet tooth, but this left me feeling weirded out. It felt like I shouldn't be putting stuff like this in my mouth. The matcha ice cream inside was yummy though.

Oh yeah, the ice cream variant is yummy but my tooth can't handle the sweetness and the ice. It felt like I was putting my teeth in danger.

It's healthier not to have too many sweets :)
