Step by Step Homemade Lasagna Recipe

in Foodies Bee Hive2 years ago (edited)

Hello foooodies,

It's been a while sicne I've last shared a recipe with you...and that was actually in June. Whooh 😱! That's really a long time, don't you think?

This summer was really short somehow. At least that's how I feel about it. Hopefully I'll have the time to share with you all the delicious recipes I've been trying during the summer. 💗

My project-1.jpg

I must admit it:

I am a LASAGNA FAN!

I simply love lasagna guys! And luckily, my little son loves it too. So I'm doing it quite often. And lately I've noticed that I prefer lasagna over spagetti bolognese. This red sauce was my favorite in years but now I'm not so sure. I prefer a light olive oil and lemon sauce with shrimps, or maybe some parmeggiano and garlic olive oil sauce. And YES, deinitely lasagna over bolognese.

What about you? What's your favorite pasta recipe?

Ok, lets move to the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 500g minced beef (or maybe 50-50 pork/beef) I use whatever I have at home.
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1-2 carrots
  • 1-2 red pepper
  • 2-3 garlic cloves (chopped as fine as you can)
  • one-two can tomato sauce (maybe a bit more), it really depends. I used around 700g.
  • spices: oregano, basil, black pepper or Italian seasoning
  • salt
  • lasagna noodles
  • ricotta cheese
  • parmesan cheese
  • mozzarella cheeese
  • some olive oil (or any kind)

As far as I know, the original Lasagna has Bechamel Sauce, which I dont make. I only combine the eggs with cheese. I found it more simple and I guess I like it way much more than the original.

Plus, I'm adding carrots and red pepepr. Which definitely you won't find in the original. But I put those because I like the taste and also it's a bit of veggies in here. Why not? More child friendly.

I love adding fresh basil. The basil and the red pepper are from my garden and they taste delicious.

I didnt measure the cheeses. I added as much I considered, but you can make yourself an idea by looking through the photos. Aproximately, I used 400g mozzarella, 200-250g ricotta cheese and 100-150g parmesan cheese.
Ohhh...and this is optional but on top I had some Emmentaller Chesse Slices.

And here are the....

INSTRUCTIONS

First add olive oil on a pan, and cook onion until it is soften.

Then add red pepper and carrots and cook them for 4-5 minutes before adding the meat. Add the meat and garlic and cook until the meat is almost done.

Now, add the seasonigs. Italian mix or simply oregano and basil. Salt and black pepper too.

Start adding the tomato sauce. Combine everything and add fresh basil. Ohh I adore basil! 💚
Cook until everything is done and in the end add one-two teaspoons of sugar. This will cut the acidity of the sauce.

The sauce is done by now. Start preparing your cheeses.
First you need to do a mix of ricotta cheese and parmesan cheese. At least thats how I do it. Add some black pepper or even fresh parsley would be nice.

And now, BIG question. Do we boil the lasgana noodles or not? I did it both ways and I didnt noticed much of a difference. Still I like the ones I didnt boil before. Maybe because they aren't so mushy like the boiled ones. You can do it your way.

If you chose to use uncooked pasta, maybe its a good idea to have your sauce "wet" enough. This will help cooking pasta properly.
I will continue using uncooked lasagna noodels because it saves so much time! SO SO MUCH TIME!

These are my favorites so far. They are Italian, from Barilla brand. This is widely spread in Romania so its easy to find it.

Coming up the Assembling Part.

Don't forget to preheat your oven around 180-190°C.

Choose your favorite oven baking pan for these kind of recipes like lasagna or other casseroles.

Start with a very thin layer of red sauce.

Here is my sauce. This is how it looked like when it was ready.

On top of the sauce, put the lasagna noodles.

Add mozzarella cheese. And then add the cheese mix (parmesan and ricotta).

And now, add one layer of red sauce. Then repeat the layers once more.

I added one layer of lasagna noodles on top and then Emmentaler slices. You can replace it with mozzarella or gouda cheese.

Add an alominum foil on top and let it in the oven for like an hour or so.

And thats it, folks. In one hour, the Lasagna was ready to be served! Yummy Yummy!
My husband, who's not really a fan of it, said it was delicious. So I took his word seriously. Also my son asked for Lasagna a whole week after having this. He wanted Lasagna everyday but ehh..it was gone. Quick enough!

This recipe is enough for 6 people, I would say.

This looks amazing. All my favorite ingredients, but some doesn’t exist in my fridge. If so I would have cook it now. Well The red sauce that you add the mozzarella cheese is just like a great combo to make this recipe become boom. Everyone as well as the 6 members must love your cooking recipe.

Hey! You're so sweet!! Maybe you'll try it someday! 😍

Gonna save this for now..I want to try lasagna next time 😊 looks yummy

Hey Jane! It was delicious! Do you like Italian food or European style?

For example, I didnt try many Asian Food recipes but I'm willing to try them out someday in this life, when (I hope) to travel to Asian countries. I mean the local stuff. Else we have different Asian theme restaurants here in Romania and ofc, Europe. But I'm sure they aren't the same thing as the original right?

I like Italian more... Indeed..it maybe the same recipe, but with different kinds of ingredients, so the taste is different as well. Unless we use the same original ingredients of the same kind..

This is mouth watering 🥲 Craving for lasagna ❤️

It's looking nice, right? It was delicious, to be honest! 😍

That looks delicious! Im gonna save this for now and try this next time.

Hello @missdeli!
Yes, minced chicken meat and cheese taste really yummy. You should try it for sure. Veggies and cheese is my regular. 😀 Garfield also likes lasagna, did you know?

For some reason I dont buy minced chicken meat, only sometimes when I do some chicken meat balls.
Who's Garfield?😁

Garfield is a cat. I sometimes watch him before bed. He is smart and very lazy. His favorite food is lasagna👍
