HOW TO MAKE TASTY AND DELICIOUS DRIED FISH: A SELF DISCOVERY🥰

IMG_20230326_064618_036.jpg

Hello, my hive friends!

My warmest greetings to one and all especially in this wonderful community. How are you? Hope you're all well and great!

Anyways, I'm inspired to share with you what I discovered this weekend.

In the past few weeks, I observed that we felt summer already. The weeds started to dry, the ground started to crack and the heat of the sun sometimes made me lazy to walk outdoors. Sometimes, there were days that it rains but the ground was still thirsty. But because of the Summer Feels, I innovate something useful.

Saturday morning, I and my hubby went to the market to buy food for our consumption. There was much fish displayed and I decided to make homemade Dried Fish. My hubby said because of the heat of the sun, the fish will surely dry in all-day exposure.

Dried Fish is commonly known as Daing or Tuyo in Filipino terms and paired with rice. You can also dip your fried fish in a dash of vinegar with chili and tomatoes on it.

LET'S MAKE OUR DRIED FISH

The first thing to do washed the fish thoroughly and started to cut each one in a half or split it into a butterfly fillet. Repeat the process until all will be cut.

Clean the fish, remove the guts and gills, and washed it after. Again, repeat the process until all are well-cleaned.

TO MAKE OUR DRIED FISH TASTY AND DELICIOUS

These were the simple ingredients to prepare.

  1. One cup of coconut vinegar
  2. Two or three tablespoons of salt
  3. Five cloves of garlic

Mixed all the ingredients, let the salt dissolve, and after which soaked the fish in the mixed ingredients one by one and leave it in a cool place for two to three hours to marinate.

LET US DRY THE FISH!

Get the screen tray to be used as our base and make a pile of marinated fish. Bring the screen tray with the piled fish into the area where the sun directly hit our marinated fish.

When you're going to display it closer to the ground be sure to guard it because it might be eaten by animals especially by cats because fish smells good to them.

IMG_20230325_111100_243.jpg

In our case, we put it above the roof so that aside from it directly absorbing the heat of the sun it is far from the animals as well.

We will wait for it until the sun sets. This gonna be our dish this dinner and we paired it with rice. I will fry our dried fish and my kids will surely love it.

Taraa let's eat!!!

I always wondered how dried fish were made since these are sold in bulk in Carbon! Thought there was a special process they do but I guess its pretty simple but it does take some bit of time. Learned something new!

Hello @indayclara good day! It is so simple to make and prepare dried fish it is just a matter of hardwork and patience as well. The difficult is in the part where there will be a bad weather and you can't dry your fish.

Thank you for dropping by inday I really appreciate it😊

true indeed! In fairness, makasurvive rjud ang tao maskin buwad lng. huhu. if only I wasn't allergic to dried fish, I would have enjoyed this food.

Drying fish made easy. Thank you for sharing, I also like the fact that you are cautious and those pictures are excellent visual aid. I'll try it out, we have really hot weather in Africa. Best wishes.

Yes @emjeak because of the hot weather we can innovate something good like drying the fish. I'm inspired and looking forward if you tried it and soon you'll gonna post it here.

Thank you for reading my blog. God bless

Wowwww.. I really liked this kind of dried fish. It will surely ruin your balanced diet into unbalance one ..lol. It needs lot of extra rice 🤣.

True @mommyjane . The plan to have a balance diet is already ruin.hahahaha...extra rice pls.😁

Kalami ani wui... Impas bahaw ani ba. Hahah

Mulang mam plus utan bisaya.hmmmmm

As in... Hehe

Korek mam lerr daot ang plan nga diet

Ahahahahaa

Omg this dish look super I love the way you exposed the fish, looks truly yummi 😍

It is indeed yummy my friend and if you're gonna paired it with hot soup superb....healthy and yummy

Love the daing! I didn't know that there's vinegar in the recipe. I always thought that it will just be dried with some salt on it.

This is perfect for soups and other food, kinda challenge is cats are roaming around the area hahah.

Daing is so delicious especially when you gonna paired it with vegetables soup plus rice. It would be better if you'll soak it in a vinegar aside you'd taste it good the flies will never touch your fish as well

Ahhh, I've discovered another way of drying fish. But, I doubt the power of sun here in Nigeria to be able to dry fish. Or maybe, during harmattan
