Food Sharing #235 - The Sushi Counter @ Crows Nest, Australia

Hi Everyone

It has been awhile we have been able to go out for a meal so since lock down is lifted, we are back at it! I was craving for a nice Japanese meal so we went to as they have a very well rounded lunch menu to choose from. Due to the restrictions, restaurants are operating at half the seating capacity for social distancing so we were lucky to get a table at lunch.

Let’s have a look at the menu. There was a very generous lunch menu set or you can order from the normal menu, Also very reasonably priced. We ordered an Assorted Sashimi Set with a side of seasoned seaweed and a Pork Kakuni Set with tempura prawns. Hubby wanted the Yakiniku beef set but they sold out of beef so he went for the pork set instead.

Here comes the food. Looks like there are many small bowls but everything adds up and we were super full after. My sashimi set was super fresh with the sides all fitted very well. I loved the salad in particular from the side dishes, although small but very tasty and fresh. We both had a set of sides each. Hubby’s meal he thought was a bit bland with not enough sauce for the rice bowl. He loved the dumpling soup which I thought was a substantial bowl in top of the miso soup given to us. Including our add ons to the meal, it was very good value. Staff was courteous but kept their distance. It is a small restaurant so it is best for small groups or couple, won’t recommend it for larger groups.

It looks delicious, I think you miss Japan. 😱

Gosh i miss it soooo much. I think after our boarders, Japan will be the top priority. You still in Japan?

Very nice dishes ;) I love asian food and sushi sashimi first of all.

Yeahhhh Japanese food is pretty healthy overall

I never tried eating sushi but everything looks so colorful and tasty!

really?!?! omg you should try it! try with cooked stuff first and if you are confortable, start on the raw stuff. Hope you have been well :)

That's a good tip actually as I can't imagine trying it raw from the first time. Thanks for that! :)
