Sweet Caramalized Cassava
Hi Hive Community Friends who love traditional food!
Cassava is a staple food for some of the world's population, especially in tropical regions, such as South America, Africa and Asia.
In Indonesia, cassava can be used as a alternate for rice. Peoples in long-ago eat cassava for breakfast. They did boiled cassava and eat with the sugar.
Nowadays, how many traditional food based from Cassava. Now I want to make traditional food from Thailand. It's started when I scrolled social media and I found Caramel Cassava. I tought it's good for my breakfast next day.
Ingredients:
- 1-2 pieces of cassava
- 1500 ml of water
- 100 gr butter
- 100 grams of sugar
- 80 gr / 2 sachets of sweetened condensed milk
Sauce ingredients:
- 200 ml instant coconut milk
- 600 ml of water
- 200 ml of liquid milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
How to Make:
Step 1
Peel the Cassava and wash until clean. Boil the cassava with water. Because cassava is very hard, so we have to takes a long time to make it soft. It's arround 30 minutes.
Step 2
After cooking, let stand until the steam disappears, open the lid of the pan. If there is still a lot of water, discard it first.
Step 3
Combine while hot, sweetened condensed milk, margarine and sugar. Mix well. set aside.
Step 4
Combine all the sauce ingredients in one pan. Then stir until blended.
Step 5
Continue to cook on the stove over medium heat, which tends to be low so that the sauce is soft and does not clump.
Step 6
During the cooking process, keep stirring until the sauce is cooked and thickens.
Step 7
Take the cassava mixture and place it into a cup or bowl, according to taste. Flush with the sauce. Ready to be enjoyed.

No, it isn't that soft. It still has many fiber.
