Hello everyone, long time no see? I'm back to share a super simple steamed salt chicken recipe for making at home. I told you it was a really simple recipe, and it is. It just takes a few steps to make it. I guarantee it.
My father had taught me the recipe a long time ago. And this is a dish that my entire family enjoys. I always stand by to watch my father cook that dish, and I also enjoy watching the fire crackle in the kitchen. When I grow up and move away from home to live in a city where everything is modern, the fire stove at home remains the place where I feel the coziest and most peaceful. I have the feeling that all of the food cooked on a fire stove is absolutely delicious. And I also cook today's dish on the fire stove. (If you don't have a fire stove, you could make it on a gas stove)
Now let's jump into the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 free-range chicken
  • 2 bowls of coarse-grained salt.
    For dipping sauce
  • ½ 1 lemon
  • 5-7 lemon leaves
  • 2-3 chili peppers
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons coarse-grained salt.

How to make steamed salt chicken
Wash and clean the chicken. When cleaning the chicken, remember to cut a line on the belly to clean into the belly and help the chicken cook faster. Use some salt to scrub the chicken's body to clean the chicken and remove any residual smell from the chicken.

Wash the chili peppers and lemon leaves and let's dry.

Spread two bowls of coarse-grained salt in a pot so that the salt is evenly distributed at the bottom.

Place a deep plate on the surface of the salt and place the chicken on it. Using a deep plate is necessary because the chicken will release water while steaming, and if that water flows to the bottom of the pot, it will easily burn.

Put the lid on the pot and place the pot on the fire stove.

Note that the fire is not strong, it will make the chicken burnt, it is best if the fire burns gradually.
If you don't have a fire stove like me, you can make it on a gas stove, and the method is the same.
The chicken will be cooked after about 20-25 minutes of steaming.

How to make the dipping sauce

While steaming the chicken, I'm going to make the dipping sauce.
The lemon leaves and chili peppers after washed let’s cut them up. I picked lemon leaves and chili peppers from my family's garden.

Pour them into a small bowl and add half of the lemon, mixing well.

That's all there is to it, you now have a fantastic bowl of dipping sauce.
When the chicken has been steamed for about 20 to 25 minutes, remove the pot from the fire stove and carefully remove the chicken to a large plate. After that enjoy it.

When I opened the pot's lid, the aroma and yellow color of steamed chicken made me want to eat it right away. But first, I have to take some pictures for you guys.
This dish should be eaten while it is still hot, so let's eat it while it is still hot.
When you eat this dish, you will notice the salty flavor of the salt infiltrating the chicken, resulting in a delicious flavor. My family frequently serves this dish with sticky rice.
Thank you for reading my article, please share your thoughts on this dish in the comments. I hope you enjoy this dish and see you soon.

You make me feel hungry right now even though I just finished dinner. This dish reminds me of my childhood when my family members used to gather around a pot of chicken porridge on winter days.

that is such a warm thing, and the beautiful memories, right?
