Merry Christmas to all the brothers and sisters on Hive! (December 25, 2021)

It's certainly been a strange year, 2021. To me personally, looking at everything that has happened and is still happening, it's hard to celebrate. But that would actually be a mistake. Because what we actually do need right now, is hope and love. There simply isn't enough of it anymore.

• 2021 was the year that a British court decided that innocent journalist Julian Assange can be extradited to the United States, the government that he exposed for being guilty of murdering innocent civilians and journalists in Iraq.

• 2021 was the year that a few billionaires took control with a world wide health care system and completely eradicated the medical self governance of nation states.

• 2021 was the year that we lost our freedom of speech online, and dissident voices were banned from social media.

• 2021 was the year that many of us were no longer allowed to visit a bar, a restaurant or go to a movie without proof that they've been injected with an experimental "vaccine".

I could go on for a while with more negativity, but:

• 2021 was also the year that millions of people went into the streets in the largest human rights protests in history. It was the year that more people woke up to corporate and government corruption than ever before.

• 2021 was the year that Hive showed itself to the world in a sense that a real decentralized economy became visible. With the value going up to a level that makes it worth it for content creators to spend their time entirely on this platform, an alternative to centralized social media was born.

What 2022 will bring us, I really don't know. I guess it can go in both directions. What I do know for sure is that we all deserve a few days of quiet time, and we best spend that with our close family and friends. Because what is certain, is that those people care about us. And we should show them that we care about them as well. It's possible that we won't get another chance like this. So use it wisely.
