You do know it was the democrats who didn't want slavery banning, right?

Peak cognitive dissonance by now...??

“We are determined to take our country back,” David Duke said from the rally, calling it a “turning point.” “We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. That’s what we believed in. That’s why we voted for Donald Trump, because he said he’s going to take our country back.”

Trump is definitely NOT a racist.

But isn't it a little weird that self-described racists rally to vote for him?

Good for those republicans who supported those amendments.

Where are they today?

If I got ten dollars for every time an American conservative reminded me that America is a republic, and not a democracy, when talking about the degradation of American democracy, I'd be a rich man by now.

100% THIS.

You're right. Those organizations and the individuals who comprise those organizations are obviously self-serving.

AND SO ARE THE REPUBLICANS.

The 2ndA is a GOD GIVEN RIGHT, written on a PIECE OF PAPER, called the USC and BoR...

Which specific god($) bestowed this right upon you?

You seem to be forgetting that the "assault weapons ban" (1994) was passed by BOTH "republicans" & "demoncrats".

As mayor of New York, Giuliani pressed for national gun registration, advocated bans on assault weapons and high-powered handguns, and birthed the strategy of suing gun manufacturers for negligence. LINK

A key moment came when Representative Henry J. Hyde, a conservative icon from Illinois, backed the ban as well, giving the more moderate Republicans some cover on the right. On Aug. 21, 1994, a Sunday, the House passed the overall measure on a 235-to-194 vote, with 46 Republicans joining in and 64 Democrats opposed. LINK
