WoW! From one extreme to the other, thats how this past week has been! Its fair to say that I have been very sedentary for the past three months.. For most of it i have been sitting behind a computer in various very en ergonomic situations.. Working, planning, and getting ready to spring into action. My focus of late has been preparing the ground supports for a Yurt i am setting up on our ecoVillages HQ land. MY main task right now is to prepare the land for volunteers to be able to stay, and to start preparing for workshops and an earthship build! This all begins will the yurt, and soon after I hope we get water from a well we are soon to dig. Since our recent financial injection of around $37,000 we have enough now to buy the main materials we need in order to build to get a roof on the spiral earthship.

The flow is really happening now, and i am working as hard as i can physically pounding tyres and making a wooden frame to support. It feels SO good to be workings so hard! The sun here is SO harsh, but the air is very dry. I've not felt heat like this before.. were at about 37 degrees Celcius right now, and going up! I have around 15 more tyres to pound, and then i can start making the wooden floor for the Yurt. I haven't pounded tyres alone before, its normally done in teams of two.. so ive been finding news ways to make it easier and faster, and I have found a great method that really works and gets a tyre very well compacted in about 25 minutes.. with minimal effort until the very end. I will be making a movie of it soon as tyre pounding is something that most people thing is constant hard graft, but in fact its only the last bit that is the hard work.

So I will be sharing some more photos and updates soon. We hope to dig for our well soon, perhaps next week.. If we hit water I will be so very happy.. if we are really lucky we may also find water to make a small pool area.. just what you need when its 45 Celcius in August!

I have some way to go yet until we are ready to start,.. but there may well be some positions open for a few people to help get us ready for the workshops when they happen. Who knows how long but let's say later this year i really hope to have some people with me on the land as we work together toward the first spiral showhome Earthship HQ for ecoVilllages.
