ecoTrain post rewards update: All rewards are going to @hbdstabilizer

Authored by @eco-alex

Hey everyone! A few days ago I wrote a post about a change in the rewards for the ecoTrain account. Now after speaking with @acidyo i realised that declining rewards for our posts would also mean that our curators also don’t get rewards. That isn’t what i wanted, and so from now on our community posts including this one will all have the rewards set 100% hbdstabilizer account. It can be a bit confusing to explain and understand all the details of this and why it is good for Hive. Thankfully our witnesses understand all this stuff, and so if @acidyo and @smooth and others think its a good idea than i believe them!

If you would like to understand this better then please check out this post

Why Like This?

If you are curious as to why I am doing this, it is for a few reasons. The main reason for the ecoTrain's presence on Hive is to promote and educate on many topics relating to sustainable living, and generally making this world a better place. These topics are more important than ever, and are still niche and small communities compared to the general mainstream. So having our message promoted is what is most important, and the rewards take a back seat.

Over this past few months I have also noticed quite a few people who have 'something to say' about the rewards for community posts in general. Whilst i think that the rewards given to community accounts is really peanuts for the amount of time and effort it takes, i personally have now passed the point where i need to take or use any of these rewards to live. Im no longer concerned with the rewards given to us, but only that our posts get good exposure and people see them.

Our last curation post was a fantastic line up of really great information on SO many different topics. Personally, OK im biased of course, i think they are well worth looking at, and i will be very happy to see them continue to get good support so that our message can be seen by all. We have some great authors and the ecoTrain community is growing and attracting some amazing people.

Thank you to everyone who posts and is a part of our community. In particular the responses to the Question Of The Week are just off the charts!! i need help to curate it!!

Delegation
We do still want to be able to support our own community posts with great up-votes and so to do that we need your delegation. The great thing about delegation is that you can withdraw it at any time, and the curation rewards all go to a good place. You can delegate in www.peakd.com if you look at your wallet. Please comment if you need any help!

Other Beneficiaries
Its more than likely that the @hbdstabilizer account will stop its work once the peg is restored. When that happens I will consider sending rewards to another account that is of benefit to the hive ecosystem in general.

ECOTRAIN SUPPORTS

Facilitating off-grid sustainable living, local trade & commerce!
ecoVillages is a new paradigm in self sufficient building and living, based on empowered groups that live off-grid with little to no bills or debt using earthship biotecture. What lies at the core of ecoVillages is that it is a model that embraces decentralisation in every way. We make sure every aspect of life is as close to home as possible, and under an individual’s control!

Our primary goal is to facilitate others to build and live in the most sustainable way using earthship biotecture, to provide a lifetime of self sufficiency with almost no ongoing bills and maintenance. Our model begins in rural areas with a lot of land available at low cost. Our model is decentralised and so homes will be spread out with each person or collective owning their land outright, but are a part of a strong and supportive community.

Hey! Good idea!
But couldn't it be spread out a bit to other projects??
I mean hbdstabilazer is good, but projects like @giftgiver could also use a boost to help new users get enough RC to be active here.

I am giving 5% to giftgiver, you guys could do that too and then 95% to Hbdstabilizer :D

hey! thanks for your comment! its a good idea and i think in the long term im open to it. For now i really want to simplify things, and save time. When i start other beneficiaries i will then have to start really doing my own due diligence to make sure its all going to a place that we mostly agree is a good one.

I might tweak it next time though to offer some to @peakd.. their system is really so good and taken hive up many notches in terms of just about everything! I dont need to do any more due diligence on them!

Understandable! There are a lot of project on Hive, so I get it if you want to keep it simple at the moment :D

A lot of the small projects just get overlooked :D

Peakd is also a good project to support, but so is Ecency or Dapplr :D

The reason I like giftgiver is that they give HP to new users and everybody can request a Delegation for a new users to help them get started :D

They are good big, so they run out of HP now and then :c

ok.. ill check it out when the time comes.. thanks for the suggestion....

Thanks!

Even though I'm running @hbdstabilizer, I agree with this (not endorsing @giftgiver here as I'm not familiar with it). If there are worthy projects that really help Hive, then go right ahead. @hbdstabilizer helps Hive right now and setting beneficiary to it is a good idea if you don't want the rewards, but it isn't the only way.

I think with RC pools coming in the near future, the problem I tried to tackle with giftgiver should become less of a problem(though still will need people to manage some pools, which I'll be doing with giftgiver). Though new user education about RC and that their first step should be to buy and stake some Hive should probably be promoted as the easiest solution to this all.

When RC pools comes out would that "fix" Giftgiver running out of RC/HP to delegate??

People would be able to join our pool and just borrow from that instead of us needing to send them HP. So those who aren't using it won't be weighing down those using it. Everyone will pretty much get exactly how much they need, no more.

I 100% agree that your project @hbdstabilizer is helping, thats why I suggested a split up :D Or just giving like 5% or something to other projects :D

thanks for your input @smooth ! ill figure it out over time.. ill keep my eyes open for good projects.. peakd is a no brainer so i think ill start with a good split between them and the @hbdstabilizer .. it seems that the project is widely accepted,, very few moans n groans about it.. and that peg is way off..

cheers!

100% agree. Hbdstabilizar er is a good project, I wasn't trying to take anything away from that :D

Congratulations for reaching a state I have always dwelled in,
not needing rewards from Hive or Steemit to live! 😘

lol.. thanks! yes.. it a good state.. a self sufficient one..
om shantiiiii

Yeah, declining rewards are not good for curators I think. Since you're thinking to grow the reputation of the hive. Having rewards to @hbdstabilizeris a good idea.

By the way about the delegation concerns. You're giving rewards as an exchange for the delegation or an upvote?

if i undetstand you right, .. the upvotes from the ecoTrain account are increased with delegation.

Now i come to think about it we will still get curation rewards for our upvotes in other posts.. so in fact the account WILL still grow! somehow i forgot about those.. ill edit the post reflect that..

I don't think I understand you. What I meant was about how you deal with the delegators.

Upvote from ecotrain or hive rewards in every delegator what I wanted to know.

delegators dont get anything.. its quite altruistic..

my main delegator is a top witness who really wants nothing back. the rest of our delegators are mainly friends who also want nothing back.. then the others that delegate may or may not get our upvotes.. that depends on content, quality etc..

Ah okay, now I understand. Well, you have a good project after all. I wanted to join the good people but I must check my power first since I don't have much.

Thank you by the way.
