WhatsUp From The ecoTrain community on Hive! #30: Living Sustainably Digest

in ecoTrain3 years ago

Hey everyone and What IS up! I hope you are well, not too cold in the northern hemisphere and not too hot in the southern [=).. Sometimes we need reminding that whilst we are hot someone else is always cold. Such is life and the way this world works. All things are in balance, and if they are not .. eventually they get balanced out. Perhaps that explains a lot of what has been going on lately in this crazy world!

SO! This curation is a hand picked selection of awesome posts from our community,. There are so many its hard to choose, but there are always those ones that i really want to share. Thank you to every one who not only posts in our community but also curates and votes,. Its AMAZING to see so many great Hive curators supporting the many posts in our community, because our topics are SO IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW. I think almost everyone can now see the value of living off the grid, even if they are not able to themselves. So a big shout out to @ocdb, @blocktrades, @appreciator, @v4vapid, @darthknight, @ranchorelaxo, @curangel, @themarkymark, @canadian-coconut (<3), and @buildawhale for your support of these great authors.

@ecotrain is a global Hive community gathered around the concept of natural giving, living in harmony with nature and making our world a better place. Changing the world starts with changing ourselves and the way we live, love, work and create together as communities .

We deliberately and consciously curate those posts, blogs & vlogs which speak to the issues, challenges and needs of community living and the emerging Hive ecoVillage communities around the world.

Here are some of the topics we support and curate on:
"Sustainability, ecoVillages, Community, Self-sufficiency, Off-grid Living, Homesteading, Permaculture, Alternative Energy, Alternative Lifestyle, Natural Health, Cooking, Eco-Building, Earthships, Recycling, Esoteric, Inner Transformation, Spiritual, Nature"

An Original Vegan Recipe, Pumpkin Porridge with Palm Sugar Sauce

What do you think about when you have a supply of pumpkins? Maybe you immediately think of pumpkin soup. I am also like that. But then I looked for something else I could make with pumpkin.

After I succeeded in making Iced Pumpkin, you can read HERE, I also succeeded in making Pumpkin Porridge with Palm Sugar Sauce. So I want to share with you.

Menu Inspiration
Pumpkin Porridge with Palm Sugar Sauce is inspired by a typical Asian porridge, to be precise in Indonesia, Rice Flour Porridge. The ingredients are the same with the same basic ingredients. What makes it different is that I add pumpkin juice that has been steamed before.

RESCUE...9-1-1... I HOPE I GOT HERE IN TIME, I KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING AWHILE

This day could prove to be fruitless, or it could be a day when my visual sense is tickled with pleasure. The first two pictures you see are of one of the Hard Maple logs that I dropped five years ago. I left them to decay on the floor of the forest, hoping for the spalting process to do its thing. Seeing just how decayed they were, I thought that I had left them rotting for far too long.

Chocolate free home-made advent calendar

Christmas is much like any other time of year in this house really, except that the daily creativity is focused toward a particular theme and each morning the kids get to open one little bag from the advent calendar which was made by Sabrina just in time for Dec 1st.

Each bag has a date on it and inside a little gift. Which isn't chocolate!

Instead there are a variety of gifts, the kind of things one might describe as a stocking fillers. Esteban is adding a lot of little cars to his collection while Luna is decorating her dolls with new accessories.

It appeared for a while the children didn't remember there were chocolates each morning last year. However, we also live in the same village as Sabrina's mother who thinks having a Kinder chocolate calendar is important for children.

We Got Our Freeze Dryer - Thursday

It finally arrived! Fedex stopped by at 10:00 am and he was in a semi and trailer so I went out to get it in the truck. It got slid into the bed and I brought it in the yard. The thing is not light and it is pretty bulky so I had to get my ramps to get it out of the truck. I then used the dolly to wheel it into the house.

Common Sight of Rural India.

Rural India which mostly depends upon the farming lands hardly get any special look during the year. However some of the sights were very common, once during farming days, and secondsly during harvesting. This is how the indian village looked around these days.

The common sight at any corner of the village, paddy, husks and straws. Thisnis the most laburous task the farmer get involved with. After citti g tye paddy from the fields they bring it on the field for segregation lrocess where, the grains were seperated from the paddy.

ecoVillages Journal #38: Making a decentralized online community network for Penamacor ;-)

Are the people here ready to try something NOT on Facebook? It's time to find out! I am living in Penamacor, Portugal and share this great land with many Portuguese and international people. In fact International people are soon to make up 50% of the population in this region, sped up by COVID and Brexit. Let me say that moving here is HARD, even if you speak the language. There is so much to deal with, and the bureaucracy is quite bewildering at times. We all push through it and somehow manage to figure it all out.. only with the amazing support of this growing and very beautiful and diverse community. We are, NEW. We are HERE. We are together laying the foundations for a great new place and world for people to come to.

What I have realised after 7 months is that we need a resource that is better than Facebook, and can offer so much more functionality. Seeing as Im a web developer since 1998, I have taken it upon myself to create this new website and very local and decentralised www.penamacor.network (not yet live).

Facilitating off-grid sustainable living, local trade & commerce!
ecoVillages is a new paradigm in self sufficient building and living, based on empowered groups that live off-grid with little to no bills or debt using earthship biotecture. What lies at the core of ecoVillages is that it is a model that embraces decentralisation in every way. We make sure every aspect of life is as close to home as possible, and under an individual’s control!

Our primary goal is to facilitate others to build and live in the most sustainable way using earthship biotecture, to provide a lifetime of self sufficiency with almost no ongoing bills and maintenance. Our model begins in rural areas with a lot of land available at low cost. Our model is decentralised and so homes will be spread out with each person or collective owning their land outright, but are a part of a strong and supportive community.

How To Support This Vision

1. Delegate or donate to @ecotrain to support this project.

I would be very happy to hear your comments, and any enthusiasm you might have for such a project! When I ask for people to delegate to the @ecoTrain, THIS is the ultimate goal of your delegation. Yes we support the amazing people that are on Hive with it, but there is so much more.. Who knows... some of you may well end up living in this very community, wouldn’t that make the perfect ending!

2. Donate some of your post rewards or Hive to @ecotrain

If you post using the #ecotrain tag and receive our up-votes then please consider donating something to @ecoTrain once the post has paid out. In this way we can make Hive more quickly and secure the land sooner rather than later! Of course you can always just donate without posting using our tag, and we will use it to keep empowering the @ecoTrain and the people who support us.

3. Share this post, and tell people about this vision!

The re-blog button is only a click away and could change someone life! If you love this vision, please share this post and share this message with someone who might appreciate it!

I leave you with a smile, and HOPE! Sometimes people let hope become a reason to keep doing nothing, but other times once we have done everything we can, we can then only hope!

4. Donate Bitcoin:

If you want to donate any amount of BTC to the cause please send it to the following address. Any donations will be used to ensure this project moves at high speed! We REALLY need your support and a little goes a long way!
