This not so common ancient vedic festival is celebrated in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar pradesh. But as the people of these states started to find livelihood in other part of India, the festival has started gain more attention in remaining part of India as well. This is is how it gaining more popularity.

The main significance of the festival is "To thank Sun for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and fulfilling particular wishes"

The festival is celebrated for four days and is considered to very pious. It involves Prayers and religious rituals, including puja and prasad, bathing in the standing water, and fasting.

The four-day-long Hindu festival, Chhath Puja, dedicated to the Sun God. Devotees from several parts of the country celebrate the festival by observing fast and offering prayers to the Sun God by taking a dip in the river.

Amid lockdown order and scare of the pandemic, it was assumed this year the enthusiasm to celebrate the festival would be not much, but everything turned upside down, when we found a huge gathering of people to take blessing of the festival.

Everyone took part whole heartedly and with full enthusiasm. It was good to see how people ignoring all restriction took part in the celebration. Frw of the shots I have taken of the festival is shown below.

Do not get scare with the people gathering, the Corona haunt is only found in the urban part of India. As I am living in the rural, there is not such any horror. People are openly meeting and celebrating like before.

And similarly, we end up celebrating this festival too.

Peace

These ritual observances are, I think, even more important during times such as the ones we've had to go through these past few months. They exalt community and reignite the power of ancient traditions that are always such valuable sources of insight and inspiration! Thank you, your pictures are really beautiful!
