10 More Free Saved Items Sold For $1,284... A Win-Win For The Environment

in ecoTrain3 years ago (edited)

With many wallowing in uncertainty and fear, my recycling effort never falters.

We need a planet to live (or wallow) on, depending on how one chooses to see it.

Finds have been great. Some have blown my mind, but haven't sold yet. You'll see in time.

Sales have been solid. Still trying to sell more for cash in-person to reduce my footprint.

Per usual, below are 10 more items personally plucked from my neighborhood's curbside recycling that I recently sold. Just a small snapshot for inspiration and ideas...

Painting of a famous thieve's hangout, Le Lapin Agile, in Paris sold for $70 cash. Signed by Dupont, but I don't think it was by the famous artist.

These are just some cherry-picked cash sales since my last post so you get the drift.

Think about how you're helping the environment... or why you're not. Do more if you can.

Blogging in circles only gets people so far. Roll up your sleeves offline in reality and invest wisely.

I'm off to go outside to find more...

Thanks,

Nice work as always:) no good findings here, just a lot of toys for my son and friends. Just found a sofa that I kept to myself and large mirties to my gym.

Saving anything you can/when you can is as good as it gets. Fortunately, you can carry even small houses on your shoulders so.... What's a mirtie?

Question,

the upcycling you do is really commendable as we throw away to much these days. But when you make your rounds you are bound to pick up stuff that does not sell. So what do you do with that? does your house look like a hoarders dream or do you then get rid of things after a while as well?

Good question. I usually only take smaller things that fit on my shelves or in bins. The medium sized stuff must be good/faster sellers to warrant the space. If it's really large, I have a storage unit nearby. If it's really big, but not worth the legwork and injury risk to transport it, I circle back to taking small parts from it to at least make some impact.

I also take many things I uncover out and leave them in plain sight for someone to take later. For example, I had a nice warm winter jacket in my hands a few weeks ago and decided to leave it out in view. 60 seconds later, a homeless man walked by me and took it. Another example I saw was a pair of vintage paintings I pulled out of a bag. I took one and left the other leaning on a tree. Then two women walked by me with it minutes later. Can't put a price on that reward. I also take some things to a thrift store nearby.

My apt definitely is full of shelves and sections for inventory (and operations) vs things I personally own, but it's a necessity at this time to allow me to not work for anyone else since quitting my corporate job 5.5 years ago.

Most things sell in a reasonable timeframe. If not, I drop the price a lot or part it out.
