6 More Free Saved Items Sold For $1,245 & Wine (?)... A Win-Win For The Environment

in ecoTrain3 years ago (edited)

With crypto running, my recycling effort doesn't falter.

With many wallowing in uncertainty and fear, my recycling effort also never falters.

We need a planet to live (or wallow) on, depending on how one chooses to see it.

With crypto projects marketing how they'll lower carbon emissions versus BTC mining, why don't we just save stuff with our bare hands in the meantime?

Finds have been great. Some have blown my mind, but haven't sold yet. You'll see in time.

Sales have been solid. Still trying to sell more for cash in-person to reduce my footprint.

Per usual, below are 6 more items personally plucked from my neighborhood's curbside recycling that I recently sold. Just a small snapshot for inspiration and ideas...

Mac Mini restored and sold for $200 cash.

A cool story of determination and troubleshooting for another post. I was going to stay in on a late night, but forced myself out and found this in the first 2 mins.

2 pounds 7 ounces.

Very rare Bang & Olufsen media player sold for parts/repair for $520 a few hours after listing it.

If I knew how to test it, it's an easy $1,100 sale. I went for the quick turnover to make room for more on my shelf.

22 pounds with recycled packaging.

Yet another Dyson vacuum saved and sold for $100 cash and a $40 bottle of French wine.

Sweet negotiation with a local sommelier. Gave the wine away to a new neighbor as a welcome gift.

4 pounds 12 ounces.

Rare Pokemon game box sold in damaged condition for $130.

If it was in better shape, it'd sell for $200. Game not even included! Several other classic cases and a game found in the same spot. This was wet when I found it.

Most would think it's trash. Not me. Find the value.

8 ounces with recycled packaging.

Dell server motherboard sold untested for parts/repair for $155.

It was worth more, but I discounted it for a specific buyer to move it. I found this downtown outside of a golf pro shop where I went to get balls for an upcoming round with my friends.

This easily paid for my purchase and the 18 holes. Always be on the lookout!

9 pounds 12 ounces in recycled packaging.

Rare auction catalog of a celebrity's collection sold for $140 to a famous designer in London.

I have 9 more of these from the same find! They'll sell slowly, but take up almost no space.

2 pounds 11 ounces with recycled packaging.

Recap:

All items sold in clean and perfect working order.

All personally kept from being crushed in a truck within hours, or even minutes, of me finding them.

  • Total revenue received = $1,245

  • Total cash received = $300

  • Total revenue from online = $945 (blah)

  • Total inventory cost = $0

  • Total weight saved = 42 pounds

  • Average revenue per sale = $207.50

  • Average weight per sale = 7 pounds

Bonus: $40 bottle of wine included in payment.

Supplies used: recycled packaging, recycled shipping tape, isopropyl alcohol and paper towels.

These are just some cherry-picked cash sales since my last post so you get the drift.

Think about how you're helping the environment... or why you're not. Do more if you can.

Blogging in circles only gets people so far. Roll up your sleeves offline in reality and invest wisely.

Time to finish a minor repair on a Miele vacuum that'll quickly sell for $200. I'll then open up a 55" Vizio TV I found on my way home from FedEx last night to harvest the boards.

Like clockwork, I'll be out tonight to find more thinking about my next move in life...

Thanks,
@steemmatt

The swiss are way to tidy for stuff like that, everything is brought to the recycling centre.
Shame though, I would do this while walking the dog, good exercise for both of us

When the finds are slow at night, the thing that makes me feel good about it is the exercise. Always a failsafe for staying positive.

Love the B&O media player! Their stuff is crazy expensive but are really cool looking

I've found some of their phones and sold a record player for a friend. I also have a complete BeoSound music player from the curbs but the CD/Tape parts skip. I've been lazy to work on that or dismantle for parts.

Thats super impressive.
Did you just find these gems on the street?

Thanks. Yep I've found and sold many thousands of items like these over the last 4+ years by walking around my city neighborhood at night with a cell phone flashlight and a backpack. Almost everything is in clear plastic bags placed on the curbs for pickup by the trucks, or laying loose on top of them. I do sometimes find stuff of equal or greater value (like gold and silver jewelry) in black trash bags also placed on the curbs by feeling the outside of them for non-trash-feeling stuff. It's a lot of fun and a treasure hunt whenever I want.

The shit you find...

The shit people bring to your shop you buy and sell for amazing profits. HI BLEWITT.

Hello sir! Glad to see ya still on here grinding away! Amy insane scores lately?
