My partecipation to #5 edition of Ladies of Hive Contest - La mia partecipazione alla #5 edizione del Contest di Ladies of Hive

Hello everyone and welcome back to my Blog!

With this post I participate to the new fantastic contest of the Ladies of Hive community, now in its 5th edition. This week the questions are really interesting and so I start by congratulating the admins on the choice!

Let's start.

This week's questions are:

60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s - which decade do you love the most and why?

I was born in the 90s, but my answer is not about this decade. In fact, my favorite years are the 70s! The reasons are very simple:

• The 70s saw the development of two amazing musical genres: rock and metal. One of my favorite bands, Pink Floyd, releases what are for me the best songs ever: Comfortably Numb (1979), Time (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975) and much more. But I must also mention the other fantastic bands born during this period: Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest,…;

• One of my passions is graphic design and, in particular, I love typography. The 70s are the golden years of this sector and, in general, of all those modern artistic forms that today fall within the great family of Design. In this period the first computers are turned on (IBM introduces the IBM 3800, the first laser printer on the market), adhesives are born and very famous fonts are created that we still use today. In short, in this decade there is an air of revolution in the world of graphic design and I think it is very important to study history to understand the evolution of this beautiful art form.

What book or movie have you read/seen recently you would recommend and why?

The last film I went to see the cinema was Tenet, a sci-fi thriller from the fantastic director Christopher Nolan.

It is a very interesting film in the style of this cryptic director, so I feel I can recommend it to everyone. Furthermore, the film was launched in a very important historical period. In fact, it is the first major Hollywood film to be released in cinemas after closing due to the pandemic. Just think that the film's release has been postponed 3 times! Buying a ticket to go to see Tenet was a bit like returning to the normality of the period prior to Covid-19.

The plot is simple: the film tells the story of a secret agent, "The Protagonist", who is able to travel through time and his aim is to prevent World War III from unleashing (I can't say more, look this wonderful movie!!).

In my opinion, the choice of actors was also very apt. For example, there are John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki and others.

The film is full of numerous puzzles and it is not easy to find them all during the first viewing. For example, some names of characters, places and the title of the film itself are inspired by the Square of Sator, a Latin inscription in which each row and column are made up of words that can be read from left to right and vice versa, changing in meaning, while the word in the center of the table, TENET, is a palindrome. It is not the first time that Nolan amazes us with these mystical references.

There have been numerous cinematographic criticisms, both negative and positive, against this film. Personally, I am not an expert, but my opinion is that it is a very nice film, interesting to follow and that keeps your eyes glued to the screen. It is not a passive vision, on the contrary, the viewer is stimulated to ask himself questions and to look for clues here and there between the scenes of the film. Maybe not Nolan's best movie, but it's certainly not to be missed!

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?

There is a premise to make: I love my country, Italy, and I would like to continue living here! But if I could live in another place in the world for a year, I would definitely choose Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

It is a city that I visited a few years ago and I find it simply unique in the world. Prague has a special atmosphere, a mix of romanticism and modernity that I will never forget. The services are efficient, starting with public transport, and the cost of living is lower than in Italy. A very important example is beer, my absolute favorite drink, which in Prague is very cheap and, at the same time, absolutely good!

Prague is also a city rich in history and art. For example, one of my favorite artists, Alfons Mucha, is originally from the Czech Republic and there is a dedicated museum in Prague. In addition, there are numerous castles, fortresses and noble residences that help to recreate the magical atmosphere that recalls a sumptuous and aristocratic past.

I would choose Prague because I find it on a par with other European capitals from the point of view of services, but much higher in terms of quality of life. It is a very green city, there are many parks and it is safe. Another aspect to consider is the weather: in the summer it is good, it is never too hot, and in winter it is typical to have Nordic temperatures with a lot of snow and ice. My ideal climate, as I love the cold!

The only problem with Prague is the language, as I don't know Czech language. Fortunately, however, English is well understood by everyone and being the largest city in the Czech Republic it is almost impossible not to be able to communicate with the locals.

Although I will most likely never go to live there for a whole year, it remains a wonderful city that I recommend everyone to see at least once in their lifetime!

Ciao a tutti e bentornati sul mio Blog!

Con questo post partecipo al nuovo fantastico contest della community Ladies of Hive, arrivato alla sua 5° edizione. Questa settimana le domande sono davvero molto interessanti e quindi inizio complimentandomi per la scelta con le admin!

Iniziamo.

Le domande di questa settimana sono:

Anni ’60, ’70, ’80, ’90, ’00, ’10 – Quale decade ami di più e perché?

Sono nata negli anni ’90, ma la mia risposta non riguarda questa decade. Infatti, gli anni che preferisco sono gli anni ’70! I motivi sono molto semplici:

• Gli anni ’70 vedono lo sviluppo di due generi musicali pazzeschi: rock e metal. Uno dei miei gruppi preferiti, i Pink Floyd, pubblica quelle che sono per me le canzoni più belle di sempre: Comfortably Numb (1979), Time (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975) e molto altro. Ma devo menzionare anche altri altri gruppi fantastici che si sono formati in questo periodo: Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, …;

• Una delle mie passioni è la grafica pubblicitaria e, in particolare, adoro la tipografia. Gli anni ’70 sono gli anni d’oro di questo settore (si parla di “Golden Age of Type Design”) e, in generale, di tutte quelle forme artistiche moderne che oggi rientrano nella grande famiglia del Design. In questo periodo si accendono i primi computer (IBM introduce la IBM 3800, la prima stampante laser in commercio), nascono gli adesivi e vengono ideati dei Font famosissimi che tutt’ora usiamo. Insomma, in questo decennio si respira un’aria di rivoluzione nel mondo della grafica pubblicitaria e penso che sia importantissimo studiare la storia per capire l’evoluzione di questa bellissima forma d’arte.

Quale libro o film che hai letto o visto di recente raccomanderesti e perché?

L’ultimo film che sono andata a vedere al cinema è stato Tenet, un thriller sci-fi del fantastico regista Christopher Nolan.

Si tratta di un film molto interessante nel pieno stile di questo criptico regista, quindi mi sento di raccomandarlo a tutti. Inoltre, il film è stato lanciato in un periodo storico molto importante. Infatti, si tratta della prima grande pellicola hollywoodiana a essere stata distribuita nelle sale cinematografiche dopo la chiusura a causa della pandemia. Pensate che l’uscita del film è stata rimandata per ben 3 volte! Comprare il biglietto per andare a vedere Tenet è stato un po’ come tornare alla normalità del periodo antecedente al Covid-19.

La trama è semplice: nel film si narra la storia di un agente segreto, “Il Protagonista”, che è in grado di viaggiare nel tempo e il suo scopo è impedire che si scateni la Terza Guerra Mondiale (non posso dire di più, guardate questo stupendo film!!).

A parer mio, anche la scelta degli attori è stata molto azzeccata. Abbiamo visto attori del calibro di John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki e altri.

Il film è ricco di numerosi enigmi e non è facile scovarli tutti durante la prima visione. Ad esempio, alcuni nomi di personaggi, luoghi e lo stesso titolo del film sono ispirati al Quadrato di Sator, un’iscrizione latina in cui ogni riga e colonna sono costituite da parole che possono essere lette da sinistra verso destra e viceversa, cambiando di significato, mentre la parola al centro della tabella, TENET, è un palindromo. Non è la prima volta che Nolan ci stupisce con questi riferimenti mistici.

Numerose sono state le critiche cinematografiche, sia negative che positive, nei confronti di questa pellicola. Personalmente, non sono un’esperta, ma la mia opinione è che si tratta di un film molto scorrevole, interessante da seguire e che mantiene con gli occhi incollati allo schermo. Non si tratta di una visione passiva, anzi, lo spettatore è stimolato a porsi delle domande e a cercare indizi qua e là tra le scene del film. Forse non è il migliore film di Nolan, ma è certamente da non perdere!

Se potessi vivere in qualsiasi posto del mondo per un anno, dove sarebbe?

C’è una premessa da fare: amo il mio Paese, l’Italia, e mi piacerebbe continuare a vivere qui! Ma se potessi vivere in un altro posto del mondo per un anno, sicuramente sceglierei Praga, la capitale della Repubblica Ceca.

È una città che ho avuto modo di visitare qualche anno fa e la trovo semplicemente unica al mondo. A Praga di respira un clima speciale, un mix di romanticismo e modernità che non dimenticherò mai. I servizi sono efficienti, a partire dai trasporti pubblici, e il costo della vita è minore rispetto a quello italiano. Un esempio molto importante è la birra, la mia bevanda preferita in assoluto, che a Praga costa davvero poco ed è buonissima!

Praga è anche una città ricca di storia e arte. Ad esempio, uno dei miei artisti preferiti, Alfons Mucha, è originario della Repubblica Ceca e proprio a Praga vi è un museo dedicato. Inoltre, sono numerosi i castelli, le fortezze e le residenze nobiliari che contribuiscono a ricreare l’atmosfera magica che richiama un passato sfarzoso e aristocratico.

Sceglierei Praga perché la trovo al pari delle altre capitali europee dal punto di vista dei servizi, ma molto più in alto per quanto riguarda la qualità della vita. È una città molto verde, vi sono tantissimi parchi ed è sicura. Un altro aspetto da considerare è il meteo: d’estate si sta bene, non è mai troppo caldo, e in inverno è tipico avere temperature nordiche con molta neve e ghiaccio. Il mio clima ideale, in quanto amo il freddo!

L’unico problema relativo a Praga è la lingua, in quanto non conosco il ceco. Per fortuna, però, l’inglese è ben compreso da tutti ed essendo la città più grande della Repubblica Ceca è quasi impossibile non riuscire a comunicare con le persone del luogo.

Anche se molto probabilmente non ci andrò mai a vivere per un anno intero, rimane una città meravigliosa che consiglio a tutti di vedere almeno una volta nella vita!
