There are some cultural things in Spain that just piss me off and one is punctuality. In most cases it's non-existent and the people who came to see the store just managed to be rude AF.
We had agreed that I will show it at 9.30 am sharp, so I dragged myself out of the bed at 9 am (I never wake up this early, I'm most productive during late night so I wake up late) and there I was waiting for people to show up.
Nothing! At 10 am I just gave up, locked the place up and went back home upstairs.
The doorbell rang at 10.30 am and there they were finally and not even "hello" or anything like that. I could have slept one hour more.
They spend entire 5 minutes looking the place and not talking to me at all (I'm a foreigner so it's very common that people think that all social courtesy rules do not apply) so I did got not so great impression from this couple. Also my personal feeling is that we will be neck deep trouble with them as they will probably just not pay the rent.
One hour passes and to my great surprise I hear that they want it. I gave my warning and now it's up to my boyfriend to cook a deal that will minimize the risk from our side. Like 6 month contract, 3 months rent in advance & two months guarantee money.
So what about my own business idea?
Well, the local post office has the most generous opening hours from 10 am until 1.30 pm Monday to Friday and it just makes life very difficult and there are usually very long queque times.
Especially it's difficult if you want to sell anything as an online side hustle but your work hours prevent you go to the post office.
So my idea is to put up a "mail pigeon" service where people can:
-Drop their parcels / letters from 6 am until 11 pm
-Rent just a PO box
-Forward their mail to abroad
-Print / scan / fax service that is flexible
-Warehouse service & packing for small businesses
-Safe place for Amazon orders to arrive or Amazon returns
It would be mostly subscription based self-service where people can enter with a key and drop/pickup their mail from safe mailboxes and we will handle everything from going to the post office or dealing with mail couriers.
Starting from 5.99€/per month for PO box or full subscription service for 12.90€/ per month (+possible postal fees)
I would need maximum 500€ to set this up and I got a hunch that there is actual need for this kind of service.
But I guess it will have to wait like all the other ideas and projects in my life. 😂
