Hi lovely people,
It's Sunday evening on this side of the world hope you had a superb Sunday wherever you are.
I'm so pleased to share with you this moment on a little reflection regarding the status of job scarcity in Nigeria.

My country is in serious situation at the moment where the rate of unemployment is rapidly on the increase. This is a nation blessed with so many diverse potentials that aren't been tapped. I think one of the most producing number of graduates country in the world should be Nigeria.

I kept wondering where is the space for all these graduates? Where is the environment for them to practice what they studied? It quite disheartening to note that the Nigerian schools are gradually becoming a production site of graduates that can't swing into practice what they were taught. This prompted me to write down this solemn reflection on the present predicament.

What causes unemployment?

There could be surplus of reasons to as why the unemployment rate is on the increase. It's not limited to these factors but this is my personal perspective.

  • Lack of good infrastructure. Most of the structure we have today are substandard, and are just mirage. To be candid most of the facilities we have aren't functioning so how can the industry be up to date? How would the industries employ more people? When some of these structures are properly put in place, it will curtail the rate of unemployment there by creating more space to absorb people.
  • As I reflect, one of the causes of unemployment is the system of political power. This factor has really rub lots of development amongst the community etc. People are power drunk and once they attain any political level they tend to exert sole dictatorship in which the citizens are at their mercy for any thing. Some of the prominent lucrative sectors has been hijacked by the politicians and been reserved for their children, family members etc.
  • The scarcity of jobs could also be traced to the lack of funds to individuals to engage in entrepreneurship. Is not just enough to motivate someone to start up a business without a provision of soft loans or grant to enable such individual begin such business. In fact the leaders aren't driven by raising entrepreneur instead symphony every resources to themselves and empower their cliques. Why won't job scarcity be on the increase?

I hope that the country would be a better place. Things won't be like this forever. I see possibility, I see a prosperous future. I pray for a better Nigeria.
It's just my personal reflection.

The unemployment rate is really alarming yet people are still struggling to get into the higher institution. I wonder how it will be if nothing is done to curtail it. God help us.
