Blue Dragon - water, witches and fire - My (hi)story with Tarot Readings

in Reflections11 months ago

A good friend, aka @selfhelp4trolls , reached out to me yesterday, while I was chilling outside, awaiting a nearing thunderstorm
that ended up never arriving and played out, weakly, over the mountains in the distance - but that's a whole different story...

Zack asked me if he could 'give me a dragon reading'...

Give a raptor a dragon reading????

I guessed he meant tarot and said:

sure
just don't put a curse on me

Didn't say that but the troll inside of me might have.

He then pulled a card from his dragon deck

It was the above card, donning a blue dragon and containing the word "Seiryu" and a key.

Together we deciphered it into the following message:

I hold the key for the path in front of me ( just a matter of staying on track )

Stay focused and keep your eye on the prize

You’ll overcome the distractions.

Afterward, I started looking up the word 'Seiryu', only to find out that this was the name for a mythological blue dragon.

Just now, for a change, I decided to try out open AI/ ChatGPT to teach me more about this blue dragon but I got a screen in front of me with the following message:

Sorry, you have been blocked

I guess the AI senses that I'm not a fan of AI, that I hesitate to trust it.
It's more clever than I thought, I have to give it that.

So, I searched on the old fashioned Internet, instead, and learnt - among other things - that the blue dragon represents water and Spring.

It is very much Spring here and I am always attracted to water, so this sure seems to make sense to me.

Doing a little further digging, I discovered that there's quite a lot of parallels between the blue dragon in Japanese and Chinese mythology.

Another positive aspect ( stemming from Chinese folklore ) is that it appears to represent healing, rest, prosperity, and harmony.

I also learnt that it's one of the four guardians of the sky and the protector of the east.

the guy formerly known as @whatamidoing continued his reading:

It’s a good time to try and make progress on something

Easy to get lost in your work. Not the boring kind of work. The stuff you love

man, can I relate.

It says you should spend your time near the river or in a ditch Hahahhaa
I think I’m mistranslating that

he later changed ditch to "water".

But it says if you can’t focus try to push through. It’s a good time to make progress

As long as its something you care about

In all honesty, I always feel ( and have felt ) attracted to ( natural ) water. I even drink loads of water.

I then (semi)joked about already having finished my book and the reading being late.

Here's a pic my friend shared with me, showing more cards of this deck:

I love the overall look of it. Very colorful, creative/ artistic and powerful - oozing energy.

He later added:

I’m not sure I can handle these cards. It’s all in Japanese haha making me dizzy
And now I gotta learn all these dragons

I'm sure he can. He just shouldn't try to tame them all ;<)

In all honesty, I am working on the mixed feelings I have had around tarot, eventhough I have a deck of my own ( found in my previous house ) that I sometimes play around with, pull cards from ( for myself ); eventhough I have friends who are into it ( @theastone , among others ) or into similar practices, like rune reading ( @drrune ).

I am aware of the fact that the mixed feelings have to do with my beliefs around the many so called spiritual practitioners who are actually only in it for the money, fame, power or those few who use it in a dark way.

but hey, there's always people who abuse things that could be used in a helpful way. That what us humans are known for ;<)

I also met some women who proclaimed they were 'witches', on the Canary islands, back in 2016. One of them invited me to visit her at her house, later that night, for a card reading. I decided not to go.

I now realize that she might have had different intentions haha! I can be naive at times...

Anyhow, I think I had seen - and read - too much negative stuff about witches and so called black magic haha! Also, something felt off.

And here's another tarot anecdote, taking place in Portugal

I vividly remember an Englishman, in his 60s, who lives in the mountain town where I used to live myself, between 2018 and 2020.

One night, the guy was doing tarot readings, in the local restaurant, after basically having been too drunk to play guitar ( he was set to perform there, that night ).

During one of these readings, he set his shirt on fire ( with a table candle ). He was also oozing negative energy, his readings seemed pretty dark.

I was translating for him ( English - Portuguese ) and, after doing two readings for the owners of the restaurant, I 'thanked' him ( said NO ) when he offered to do a reading for me and returned to my home.

This has become a long post and I could make it even longer but, suffice to say, that I believe that tarot ( or any kind of readings ) can be used in a positive way, depending on the person who does the reading. It's like giving feedback to a student and focusing on the positives ( both as the person giving the feedback/ guidance and the one receiving it ).

So, blue dragon, I welcome you to guide me, the next 7 days.

Cheers for appearing into my life ;<)

On point with this! Especially the part about taming the dragons. Take note! @selfhelp4trolls hahahaha.

I now realize that she might have had different intentions haha! I can be naive at times...

She most definitely had other intentions. They might have been fun, though, but if she wasn't clear about it, they might have come with an uncool addendum, hahaha.

🤢

You're right to be skeptical about the people who engage with these tools, there's all kinds of fauna and flora in spiritual/occult paths. However, if you've had encounters like these, they're a kind of calling. Wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to explore these practices yourselves not necessarily to use them, but to better understand them and, if necessary, protect yourself from their misuse. I can help you with that any time!

Currently shopping for dragons, not sure if I need to tame them or not, i was gonna ask them if that was a thing 😆

Have you not seen Avatar? 😜

Cheers for reaching out, amigo!

Looking forward to catching up, it has been a while,
and I would love to further explore these kind of topics with you :<)

Abrazo!

I was feeling a little shy about dabbling in this but you know me I like to push thru that. I’m glad you shared it.

I take all this stuff metaphorically. I don’t know if there is a such thing as a blue dragon but I know the blue dragon must represent something for anyone who encounters it. The one thing I do have full faith in is that life is speaking to us, and that means every symbol and pattern has meaning. In the end we can compare notes and share interpretations, but it’s up to us to make the final decision on what things mean, and if we get it wrong, the universe will find a way to let us know if we are paying attention 😆

I think I’m interested in tarot just because it can train me to recognize symbols and patterns even better.

I like how you push yourself out of your comfort zone, over and over again.

Same here.

Well said.

I don't believe in luck or coincidency any longer.

Symbols and patterns for the win!

Of course, man @vincentnijman, there's a lot to say about the people who did these things in the past an even currently. They tend to infuse a lot of self-interest and other human vices into it.

I'm sure in general it was supposed to just be some positive stuff to keep one hopeful, and psychologically primed for good things. As long as you still understand it to be this, have fun, bro. May the blessings be.
