Coffee Painting: My First Traditional Artwork for this Year

Hello hivers! It's time to share the thing that I have done recently. This is just a product of being bored and I'm not really taking this seriously! 😄 It's been a long time since I haven't exercised my skill in doing artwork. I got this art block when I started to work here in Manila. With all the inspirations I watched on Youtube and Instagram, I'm still not motivated to do the things I'd like to do. I wanna be productive but hey, I just keep on scrolling on the phone until the time run out. Well anyways, I have started to do one of my goals to stop this kind of procrastination, finally! 😄

Before anything else, I wanted to tell you a short story. 😄 I made this coffee painting not because I really planned to do this. I am working on a graveyard shift so I really need to drink coffee to stay up all night. I have packs of coffee in my locker that were given as a prize whenever we have good performances. Some of my colleagues are not fond of drinking coffee so I am the one getting their prizes (takaw sa kape, te? 😄). There's no need for me to buy coffee anymore and it helps me save money.

One night when I came to open my locker, the scent of the coffee greeted me and disseminated in that locker area. I was supposed to mix a coffee at that time before my shift started. I really scratched my head coz' I forgot to close the container. The pack of coffee powder is lumping and looked so exposed already so I did not think to use it anymore. It's not my thing to throw away those things that can still be used in some other way that's why I kept it and brought it home. That was the story. 😅

By the way, just to let you know I was compared to a rat by @pencilkhen. Yes! A rat. Aside from being born in the year of the Rat, if you really know the rat, just like them I also scavenge things. I am fond of recycling materials and D.I.Y's so if you'll see my place there are some materials that were stood by (@jude.villarta knew that side of me). 😅

"REST DAY KO NA!" I made use of the time to exercise my hands for the thing that I've no longer doing for a very long time and it was to paint. Everyone has the ability to be creative, we just need to unleash the things within us. Everyone knows how to paint, don't say you're not coz' even toddlers can do it. 😄 You can just simply make your own coffee painting at home. Any forms or figures you'd like to paint don't matter as long as you're making them genuinely, it will make you happy and satisfied after all.

I'll be sharing with you some of the steps on how I made this simple landscape coffee painting. It will be your choice anyway if what would you like to paint.

Materials

Things I used that you can just find at home:

1. Tissue
2. Paint Brush
3. Pencil
4. Paper (watercolor paper or any thick paper would be better)
5. COFFEE POWDER

As you can see, the coffee was solidified already and looks so exposed. So it doesn't matter because it can still be melted. For the mixture, I just put a little amount of water for the darker shade and reserved water to make lighter shades. There are also ways to make your lighter mixture more dense, some added cream or milk but I don't have those things. I am only using the things that I have.
