Happy Autumn Day - Molly, Me and Some November Color

1 - Happy Autumn Day.png

We Are At The Pinnacle Of Autumn ..

As the cool air rushes in, and the warm air is pushed to the south, we find ourselves at the height of autumn glory. In the chilly breeze of the autumn air, yellow, orange, red and brown leaves alike, are rustling and falling to the ground. They are gathering in piles here and there and wherever the wind takes them. We sense a hint of burning wood wafting past our noses. Birds rustle in the trees, deciding whether or not they want to leave, because they too know that the winter season is approaching. November has us in her grip, and wants us to remember her when she is gone.

Molly Shots ..

I want to start out with a few "Glamor Shots" of Molly. She was enjoying her time outside and found some comfort in the bright morning sunshine.

Molly and I headed outdoors .. So she can do her business and I can be nosy and look around the neighborhood, and the lake at the colorful display that Autumn has bestowed on us. Molly is less interested in the actual colors, smells, and sights except for those she sees moving in the neighboring yards. And occasional Oak leaf will find its way into our yard, blowing in the breeze. Molly may see that and avoid it at all costs. She doesn’t find much amusement in those sorts of things.

I was honestly surprised at how well she sat in one place and allowed me to photograph her. She too was being nosy and peering over at the neighbors homes hoping they would come outside and she could run over to greet them. Unfortunately for her that did not happen.

This one below was my favorite of the glamor photo's taken of her today.

Those Autumn leaves must fall .. And I really should be taking many more photos of them, but I haven't yet. Only a handful of them actually make there way into our yard. I should feel excited about that and the fact that I do not have to rake leaves. Here is one that has a cool yellow effect around the veins creating an exciting look.

More Autumn Beauty By The Lake ..

I shared a couple of photos past few days, of the mist and sunrise along the lake. The trees in those photos reminded me more of winter rather than autumn. Like I said above we are in the pinnacle of autumn. So today, I want to share A few of the more colorful pictures, and the ones that represent the autumn beauty that lies around the lakes edge. Just a handful of photos to give you a taste of the season here in Southern New Jersey, USA.

With coffee in hand and Molly at toe .. We head off toward the lakes edge to see what was stirring by the water. I sent my coffee cup down or small rock ledge that borders the incline of the bank. It will surely get cold here, but it’s almost finished anyhow. I took a photograph of it sitting there because I thought it looked sort of neat amongst the dried brown oak leaves; My black sheep mug perched on the wall that fades off into the distance, against a colorfully painted backdrop.

IMG_3651.JPG

In front of me stands a couple of oak trees .. Hanging toward the water. They are stately and make a statement there at the edge of the lake. Things look very calm as I look out past where I stand. A very little breeze isn't enough to ruin the glass like finish of the water. I hear a couple of ducks in the distance, quacking to each other, and a few geese on the other side of the lake. The sky is bright blue and reflects on the water in such a way that one might think there were a whole other world underneath the surface of the water. One in which included a bright blue sky.

3 - Painting The Lake - IMG_3640.jpg

As I zoom in at the banks across the water .. I loose focus and the pictures become slightly more distorted. That’s OK though because the color pops and I don’t care so much about the details. This is an about capturing the perfect shot anyhow. This is more about conveying the feeling of color and change in my environment.

6 - IMG_3645.jpg

This next picture is distorted in such a way that it almost appears like an oil painting. Enough imperfections to throw off and irritate an OCD perfectionist like myself. If you are also a perfectionist and I apologize for the lack of detail in this photo. All joking aside, I really do like the way this picture came out even though I had to shrink the file size to get it to load a bit faster on this page. If you look closely, you'll manage to see a dock and walkway just left of center.

5 - Autumn Overload - IMG_3649.jpg

Not everything is colorful and painting like. There are some plants like this one below that the leaves just turn slightly yellow then brown. But it does have these cool seed pods out of exploded into a white fluff. Capturing these in the foreground with the dark shades of the water and sky in the background, add an extreme amount of interest. It’s something that I may have to return to take more photographs of.

The morning is starting to get late

Molly is getting tired and wants to head indoors.. I know this post is going to be on the longer side so I think it’s best if I stop here and share other photographs on another day. I’m gonna pick her up and carry her indoors or she can warm up in a sunny spot.

Before I do I turn around one last time to take a photograph of the color through the trees at line the bank.

9 - IMG_3634.jpg

I know it won’t be long until this November color is gone, and all the leaves have fallen to the ground. It’s then when I will realize that I didn’t appreciate autumn as much as I should have. Some day's I guess that’s just the way it goes.

I Must Look Around More Often.

Well, Molly DID find a sunny spot indoors to rest her tired bones. She found it in her bunkbed by the back window. The perfect spot for a mid morning nap. Rest up Molly, more adventures await us!

AUTUMNAL

Pale amber sunlight falls across
The reddening October trees,
That hardly sway before a breeze
As soft as summer: summer's loss
Seems little, dear! on days like these.

Let misty autumn be our part!
The twilight of the year is sweet:
Where shadow and the darkness meet
Our love, a twilight of the heart
Eludes a little time's deceit.

Are we not better and at home
In dreamful Autumn, we who deem
No harvest joy is worth a dream?
A little while and night shall come,
A little while, then, let us dream.

Beyond the pearled horizons lie
Winter and night: awaiting these
We garner this poor hour of ease,
Until love turn from us and die
Beneath the drear November trees.”

Molly the CUTIE as always!

Lovely autumn photos!🍁✨🍂

Awww.. Thank you. I will tell her you said that 😁

Hahahaa. Yes, do that! Hahaa

Freaking beautiful. Unfortunately for us, Autumn blew right through and we kind of skipped right to Winter. Today is supposed to be a little warmer, but then we are diving right back into the snow for the weekend I think. It is very possible we might have snow on the ground for Thanksgiving this year.

Thank you! It has been a nice fall this year for us. Obviously your are was a different story. I was watching those storms move through your area. I hope it's not a sign of what's in store for you this winter. Your Christmas day will probably be in the 60's since you'll have a white Thanksgiving. hehehe

Haha, that actually wouldn't surprise me and sounds very Michigan-esque. They said we were supposed to have a hard winter last year and it amounted to not much, so I figure we are about due. I don't mind if we get a ton of snow, but the polar vortex temps in the -20's = -40's are what drive me nuts.

Molly looks so cute ❤️
