Surprise Visitors
Look carefully into the trees when walking, like looking into the soul seeking truth, abundant nature is everywhere taking time to spend free minutes outdoors.
Release used currently not knowing one day to the next what may happen. seize the day, previous weeks have been tough on everyone. floods, wars, inflation name it at the moment it appears to be happening.
On wings of a bird I never seen previously, an African green pigeon (Treron calvus) looks down on me loftily from the tree offering ripened berries, did it sit quietly to enjoy some time or seeking out food I am not certain, this beauty in nature brought untold joy being able to capture some photos.
Cobalt blue eyes started back down, with the cutest red feet lingering although a shy bird I pose no danger being some distance beneath.
After the rains the Rain bird visited, very shy bird under the same tree ripe berries on the ground in a fleeting visit. Full article I did a couple of years ago about this fascinating bird Burchell's Coucal Birds of Southern Africa
Late afternoon approximately fifteen juvenile Bronze mannikins flew in at great speed and departure, now how awesome would it be to enjoy life on the wing. Don't like something, just move along.... simple! Manged to capture three!
A day would most definitely not be a day fulfilled without a visit from my regular Brown-hooded kingfisher, Oh he sits and bobs on his perch making sure I say hello out the window.
Something orange in colour caught my peripheral vision out the window, what we have here is most probably similar size to the small mannikin birds. Green-veined Emperor (Charaxes candiope) another surprise visitor, what a beauty the patterns on wings delicate yet excellent camouflage.
Did not open wings totally so partial open wing to have a glimpse of another stunning visitor.
How little we know about many surprise visitors, researching to make sure I really saw what I was lucky enough in these visitors.
Very few mushrooms popped up after all the rains, some to feast your eyes on, now I never pick to eat!
Too few and too small, largest about 3 cm!

The beautiful thing about walking is taking pictures of the environment where we walk; What beautiful shots, I have never seen a butterfly with that green color on its wings. Congratulations, you have taken some really beautiful shots.

I love your surprise visitors. And it's amazing how they can brighten our day just to be able to contemplate them for a while.
I hope things are looking up and that the rains are behind you. And that the clean-up and reconstruction work is progressing.
The weekend is almost over, but I hope you enjoyed it, and happy week ahead to you!
Repairs after this flood with take a year or two some very bad damage in places. Many still sitting without water connected, electricity continues to be intermittent problem.
Being outdoors walking the dog or glancing out the window with slight movement has been very rewarding, makes life interesting to carry on.

I can imagine that it takes time to recover. And I can relate to the frustration with service supply issues. Here we know well what it means to be without electricity and water. I hope at least that gets solved soon.
Being able to appreciate what surrounds us, nature, flowers, birds, and so on, makes life and the worries inherent in it more bearable.🤗

Not much one can do but accept each day with what one has or does not have. What is very worrying in our region is theft, hijacking and kidnapping now taking place through lack of earnings.
Slowly one day at a time hopefully things will change, till then find solace in the garden.
Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Here a few years ago situation with kidnappings was terrible. Express kidnappings were the order of the day. With the economic crisis that changed, I don't know if it's because of the huge migration that took place and because a lot of thugs left. But we don't hear about kidnappings anymore. Robberies are always a problem here, especially of vehicles. There are robberies in crowded areas in the street sometimes.
And motorcyclists who sometimes rob people in traffic those who are carelessly talking on the phone or displaying valuables.
I hope everything gets better here and there.

Huge migration with professionals exiting the country over last 20 years, now we deal with more problems, a big brain drain!
Don't foresee things righting for some time to come, if in my lifetime I would be surprised!

We seem to share many of the problems, here and there. Here migration has been brutal. The UN says that the migration of Venezuelans in recent years is only surpassed by the refugees from the war in Syria.
The youth here are looking to leave no matter what. And many professionals have left. It is a sad reality.
We have had to see our children and new generations having to look for the opportunities they can't find here, outside the country.
Treron calvus looks so beautiful, a soft kind of green the claws in red are just a completing to the beautiful body. God really does know how to show of with his creations.
Nature is beautiful, we are beautiful! 🙂
Dynamic colour in the plumage, those bright feet and similar colour to beak, quite happy to sit for awhile allowing me the pleasure to gawk.

Wow, a green pigeon, never heard of such a bird, but as you know I haven't heard of most birds 😉
The Rain bird looks a little bit wet, the mannikins lovely and the Kingfisher is sitting on the branch like a real Sir 😀
The wings of the Green-veined Emperor look awesome and weird at the same time, but still beautiful 😍
I wouldn't pick any mushrooms apart from the very few ones I know, and even then I take care.

Rain bird does not come up into garden normally, having written detailed content when I first saw them on our North Coast, now recognize their call.
Mushrooms in the wild are pretty to look at, I stick to buying out of a store unless I grow my own which I don't do!

Crows a sound of their own, we don't see them often but have a couple fly over. Smaller birds that visit regularly one gets to know quite quickly.
Tuesday already... another day another dawn to try get some work done on this messy desktop.

Sparrows, Blackbirds, Pigeons and Crows is what we have regularly here in and under the tree in front of our balcony. I can hear the othe rbirds, but I belong to the people who don't remember such sounds very well.
As said in the other reply, the time goes really fast at the moment and after my nightshift tomorrow it's almost the weekend which I have completely free 😁 But I won't do much photography, I think, because we are going to visit our daughter in the city where she's studying and a niece of my wife is also living there, so it will be a family visiting weekend mostly.

When enjoying a coffee on the balcony in the morning take the camera with, who know what you see in antics performed by the birds.

So many beautiful birds butterflies and fungi on your walk my favorite is the kingfisher
I have walked a few trails in the last week and heard so many birds but never seen one close enough to get a photo

were doing OK, LUlu has her first Physical Therapy today for her frozen shoulder lets hope that helps
Frozen shoulder with warmer weather and physio may work wonders quickly, hope so send regards!
Just got back from her first Physio she feels very positive and has a bit of movement, she will have sessions twice a week and she has some exercises to do three times a day and I have some I have to do stretching her shoulder and massaging at the same time
it went very well

What absolutely delightful photography! The bird, in the beginning, caught me totally off guard. I almost didn't see it there in amongst all the greenery!
All except those gorgeous feet, total give away. Blending into the tree was amazing.
Great photos! Damn, that is one really fat pigeon!!! Uaahhahaha! 🤭
Very plump compared to other pigeons, although we tend to see more doves in the garden which made the size invite me to take a closer look.
Love the red shoe green pigeon @joanstewart but then all your visitors were very special. There is no doubt that a walk in nature is the most refreshing of all.
We also have high inflation in Australia. The grocery bill is phenomenally expensive at the moment and I am thinking you got the same about of rain that we have had. We have had the most wet season this year - summer and winter.
We had a years rain in 3 days, with normal average rains as well, bird life on the move with more feeding to be done during times of no rain.
Inflation is running rampant, everything taxed to the hilt no matter what you purchase or professional service used tax is added.
Some days I regret my love for my own country kept me hopeful, not to have moved years ago, so hopeful after old regime fell!
