This thief was caught red handed on my security camera! This is the guy who came up on my deck and ate the entire pot of lettuce I had grown from seed!
He is much too cute to stay mad at for long! They are very shy and don't stay around for long, especially if they see you taking photos.
Woodchuck, Ground Hog, Marmot, Whistle Pig, whatever name he goes by in your part of the country, it seems to me he is related to a lawn mower and eats everything in his path! I have even seen them climb trees in the springtime and eat the new fresh leaves off the branches. It's always rather comical to see because they certainly look awkward trying to climb out on spindly branches to get at the leaves.
My chicken neighbors came for another afternoon visit. They came hiking up the road and turned in the driveway when they heard my daughter and I talking.
They ate a few sunflower seeds, drank some water and then were on their way. They are quickly becoming Feathered Friends! What sweet girls!
Happy Thursday!

Bwahahahaha - groundhogs are just too cute. I just love when they spy you and then wobble away in a hurry. Great catch with your camera!
My photo was not as crisp as I wanted. I snuck out of the air condition house into the hot humid air outside and my lens fogged up. But that Rascal was not going to give me another chance at taking a photo- he did the waddling off really quickly thing!
Well at least he's eating healthy lol.
I'd say! It seems he is living under my deck and living the good life!
Haha you could setup a cam for him and rival chunk on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/user/jeffpermar
In my part of the world, I would want to shoot the f-er. Instead, I build fences that keep them out! Awful animals, especially when there are a few younguns frolicking on my deck, not cute even then!
How nice that you have chickens that you don't have to care for! I want that. Those are a nice selection too!
I will try to live in peace...... until I can't anymore! Live traps and relocation are more my style.
Yeah, I get to enjoy visiting chickens and don't have to pay for the feed or clean the coop! Aren't they a pretty trio?
Beautiful. Do you know the breeds? I'm thinking all three are different types of Wyandottes, but I can't be sure.
I have no idea. If I bump into that neighbor I will ask her.
Hello dear friend @melinda010100 good What beautiful visits he is enjoying these days It is true, he is so cute that you can not get too angry with him
That you continue to enjoy the beautiful views that come daily
It seems so funny to me that after all the years that I have lived here I suddenly have chicken visitors! I am enjoying them.

I think I may have seen one of these out in our backyard eating apples. It was too far away to see very well. I caught it from the corner of my eye thinking it was a squirrel, but then noticed it was much bigger around and had a much shorter tail. I'm thinking it's the same... It ran off into the weeds when it spotted me. I'll be watching for it to come back!
Most likely a woodchuck (or as my 3 yr old niece called the 'Chuck of the Woods' ) They probably like apples, too! Are you going to learn to prune apple trees and sell the fruit?
I don't know about pruning and such, there's a lot of apple orchards up here that do that kind of thing. These are mostly small apples, but maybe there's a market for them at some of the local shops. I see lots of places selling apple pies!
It's been years since I had Apple trees, but I seem to remember that apple trees produce small fruit when they haven't been pruned properly. Sounds like you've bought yourself an orchard. 😁
Ahh, interesting information, I'll have to do some research. I've got some pruning shears and pole saw at the ready!
It's a good thing you don't have the animal we are dealing with down here. Not only is this animal not cute, but he likes chicken take out fresh from the chicken coop as a midnight snack!!! Fresh pineapple from the pineapple field as a side dish also works well for him. Yes, your little critter is much better looking!
This is a fantastic post! Your bird photos would be appreciated very much in the Feathered Friends Community! Come join us!
I will be sure to join, sounds interesting, I have lots of pictures to share.
Okay, I think I joined, now I can just post my pictures on that page? Will I get the earnings that the post makes? I am just a bit confused, new ecency user here.
Posting into a community (by using hive-106444 as your first tag) simply gets your post seen by other users with common interests. It's a place to make friends by making comments on their posts, too. And in Feathered Friends you also receive ARCHON tokens (in your Hive-Engine. com wallet) when you make comments on others posts. There are two weekly contests that give you a chance to win Hive. They are pinned at the top of the community page. You keep all earnings on your posts for yourself, although many members choose to delegate or give beneficiary rewards to community to help us give out bigger votes and prizes.
Okay, thanks. I just have one more question which is not really concerning Ecency or posting in the Feathered Friends. Do you know how to change your profile picture on Hive? I have tried but things have changed. I'm tired of my profile picture and want to update it
It has been a long time since I did that but it appears the you go into settings at @ecency.com paste your http links into the appropriate boxes.
You might want to ask in the #HELP room over in the Ecency Discord.

I love that you are using Ecency! 💕 Please ask if you have any questions.
Maybe the thief was eating grass.. Nice shot
He can eat all the grass he wants, but he needs to leave my potted plants alone! 😏
I had no clue that groundhogs could climb trees! 😮 They are cute little things, and those chickens are pretty! So, you had lots of visitors in one day! 😁
I was a bit shocked the first time I saw one in a tree! I guess they can swim, too. Full of hidden talents!
My backyard can get to be an exciting place at times.
Thanks! Do you know that the links in this comment take you to a profile page where the latest post is a year old? @thekittygirl
It's easy to follow, but not as easy to find how to join the community? Maybe just because I am on mobile.
Just like all other Communities on Hive, there is a "subscribe" button at the top of the page (at least on computer, not sure about mobile) and members can publish a post to the Community.
The focus of InnerBlocks is all the myriad "blocks" that make each of us unique — our skills, interests, hobbies, education, culture, anything that makes us who we are. Inner blocks is all about people and their stories, so if someone tells us a little about "who they are" in a post, we're interested in curating them. The project is not concerned with technical content, masterful photography, and other topics that do not speak of the author and how they live their lives. The focus, instead, is stories about people, who we are, and #lifehappening 🙂
I am already a member, I guess, I'll go take a look from my Chromebook, but I have asked for instructions on how to join from the mobile app. It is not obvious to me.

Little bugger this groundhog is. 😀
Oh, the chickens seems to love visiting you.
Yep, the thief is too cute to stay mad at for long.
And an afternoon visit by the beautiful feathered buddies.
An awesome place you have.
I do have a lot of activity in my backyard!
He looks very healthy and chubby...a well supplied diet. !LUV
He is working on building up that fat layer to help him hibernate through the winter! He gets plumper each day!

It would help if you got some geese to protect your lettuce.
I have a sandbar full of geese out in the river but the lazy creatures never come up into the woods and do any work!
I've seen the videos on Youtube. If you ain't got bears or cougar on your porch, you're small potatoes. A Prarie dog isn't gonna scare the kids, is it? Tut.
There have been cougar sightings just a few miles downriver from me, but you have to drive a couple hours north to get into bear country. I prefer non man-eating visitors!
See, I like the idea of reintroducing wolves to the UK right up until one savage's somebody.
We have wolves in Wisconsin, but they are further north from me and have a large tract of National forest land upon which to conduct their wolfy lifestyle. I saw one once and it was a truly awesome experience.
Yeah, we go for the really dangerous stuff over here, like reintroducing water voles.
Haha now the hens are coming every day ! clever ones, they know where there is the best food and drink and the nicest waitress in the surrounding 😁
I gave them some carrots yesterday and I think they were disgusted with my waitressing techniques! It seems that carrots are not particularly favorite thing for chickens. Someone came by during the night and ate them though, so there is probably a happy raccoon out there.
Them coming back is the best review in your favour 😄

So you do have 3 little chicks as I have though for me only 2 turned out to be female and one male. They're so fat and chubby. Unlike the ones we have here. You must be feeding them well 😉
They belong to my neighbor and she buys the feed! They just began wandering over in the afternoon to visit me. They haven't begun laying eggs yet, but they certainly are fluffy.
