Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 154

in Amazing Naturelast year

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

Welcome to the 154th round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than one week.

Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round.

Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. As long as the response is not too overwhelming, I will also try to give some smaller upvotes on all of the other entries to reward all participants.

I might change the concept and/or the rules of the photo challenge later on, depending on how things go. I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)

To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:

First of all, I would like to thank you guys for the significantly increased participation in the last two rounds of this challenge. It seems that my little rant about my regular series that I published here on my blog some two weeks ago was read and taken into consideration by many of you. I really appreciate it, thank you. Now back to my own shot to open this round. Winter with its characteristic features is still in full swing here in Central Europe so taking decent natural photos is quite difficult (unless you go to the mountains like @onlavu, one of our last round´s winners whose amazing picture you can see below) but I did my best again, trying a new location this time as I headed out to a forest in the Motol neighborhood of Prague, Czech Republic two days ago. It was there where I captured this low angle close up. The white ice crystals contrasting with the green moss probably was the most interesting sight I got to find there.

In the last round, we had 12 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

Hi @phortun, here is my entry for this contest, I hope you can accept it. This photo I took on 2023-01-26 in my backyard in Indonesia. This creature looks so beautiful even without me editing a bit, it's an original photo taken using a smartphone camera with the help of a 100mm macro lens and it's the only picture I got for this sweet little dragonfly. Thank you for this contest and happy weekend to you.

@franzpaulie with this entry from the Philippines:

Congrats to all the winners and here's my entry! I went out this afternoon and hiked around the Twin Lakes. The trail is approximately 900 meters. There's so much to observe here like stick insects, butterflies, and especially their own native birds that inhabited the lakes and its surrounding forest, rock formations also are stunning. This nature has lots to offer that it took me almost two hours to complete the trek. The Twin lakes, San Jose, Negros Oriental, Philippines is the exact location.

Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)

I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.

Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!

I post this series in the Amazing Nature community, a great community for all nature lovers. Feel free to check it out ;)

Here's my first entry in Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun:round 154
This photo was taken last Sunday. My sister and I decided to explore above the famous waterfalls in Red Rock, Valencia here in Negros Oriental, Philippines. This is what we found. There wasn't a trail to get there until we made one; and it was not easy to reach to this place. It was worth all the courage to get to the destination. Anyway, we stayed there for more than 2 hours and then I took this one particular photo that fits in the contest theme. I'm happy to participate in this contest. Have a nice day everyone!😍

Wow! This is definitely beautiful. ❤️

Hey there, welcome to the challenge :) This is an amazing entry from an amazing place. Thank you!

Thank you very much for the recognition. It is my honor to be part here. Have a nice day!🤩

Hello @phortun friend and everyone here!... This is my entry for this round!... Good luck to all and big hugs! ;)

"HEADING TO THE MOUNTAIN"...
A hiker is on a country road heading for the mountains south of town.
Location:"Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela" - (February 03, 2023)

Lovely picture, I wish I was the hiker hehe :D Thank you very much!

Meet the giant golden orbweaver. Its size was almost as big as my palm. I was in the middle of the hike in Pulangbato mountain, Philippines this weekend and hard not to notice it when it set its ambushed just right above the pathway. Sorry if this photo unlocked phobia for some.🙂 They are actually quite giant but harmless and minding their own business.😀

Wow, that´a very cool shot! I remember these spiders from Costa Rica :) Like you said, giant but harmless :) Great entry, thank you!

Congratulations to all what a wonderful pictures.
Mine is made yesterday at my noon walk at the beach in Olympiada - Chalkidiki - Greece
Finally we have snow on top of the mountains. I feel so blessed to have everyday the availability to walk to the beach and have every time a stunning view! Now with snow

Hey there, welcome to the challenge! It has been a while since we had an entry here from Greece, I´m happy to see one again :) A sunny beach shot with snow covered mountains in the background, wow, what a special view! Thank you!

This is a mini nature hub... but think it fits the theme! This is Champalimaud's foundation, a very good center for Cancer treatment. And in the middle of it, this beautiful garden. A ton of different species to brighten the day of the ones visiting!

Hey buddy, good to see you here! I can see a lot of nature in this picture so it surely fits the theme :) Can you just add where and when you took it please? Btw I hope that whoever you visited in the center will be fine...

I forget that not everyone knows where this Center is! :)) The picture was taken about 1 minute before I wrote the reply, and this Center is in Belem, jut a few minutes away from centre Lisboa, near the river. The pacient is progressing to a hopefully steady recovery. 🙂 Cheers! !PIZZA

Thanks for adding the info and glad to hear that the patient is doing better ;)

My pleasure! ;) !PIZZA

Papo de peru.jpg

Hey! So, this is my first participation in "Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun" and following the contest guidelines, I wanted to bring a photo I took a few days ago going for acro yoga. It's not an epic photo, I must say. But that flower definitely is!

I saw this plant in a garden and was immediately struck by the flower which, I must say, is eye-catching, to say the least.

This plant is called Turkey jowls (Papo de Peru in Portuguese), because of its appearance, and its scientific name is Aristolochia gigantea. Although people think that this flower looks like a turkey's jowl, in my opinion, it looks like something else. To be very objective, yes, it does look like a clitoris! Tell me what you think in the comments...

Anyway, this plant is a kind of climbing vine that grows here in Brazil. I confess that I had never seen one! The Papo de Peru is a plant that can reach up to 3 meters high and its flowers, besides being exotic, have a slight fetid smell that serves to attract pollinators, which are flies.

Although its flowers usually appear in autumn and spring, it is summer here, and even so, it is giving flowers.

I thought it was a very beautiful and powerful flower. So, I wanted to send this photo to compete for the award. I believe it deserves it...

See you next time!

Now it´s a great and perfectly valid entry, thank you! :)

I was a bit dumb... sorry! On the next, I'll publish it in the comment. Thanks for your comprehension!

Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 154

Hi @phortun 🤗

IMG_20230205_120831.jpg

Yesterday's walk, on Deliblatska Peščara... The wind was blowing hard, and this path you see is beautiful only in the picture 🤭 I like to walk here, but yesterday I looked for another path that was a bit sheltered from the strong wind... (Šusara, Banat , Serbia)

Congraulations to the winners 🎉

I wish you a great day ☀️🌸

Thanks for another beautiful greeting from Serbia! :) Have a nice day too.

i went down in my building living area to appreciate this beautiful sunset that yesterday the mother nature provided us!

Beautiful scenery, thank you :) The location is Venezuela, right? ;)

Yes it is

Congrats! To all winners of previous round...here is my entry for this round, the island in the South of Cebu, Barili taken just this week when we passed by again on this area, I love this site, windy and the blue sea water was relaxing with the islands background. Nature at its best.
