Granny knits for Baby Arthur - Easter knits

in NeedleWorkMonday3 years ago (edited)

Yesterday I just remembered that I hadn't bought myself an Easter egg yet this year. So I figured I'd pick one up whilst I'm doing my weekly shopping at the supermarket. And would you believe it? They said they had sold out!!! It was Saturday, and they close on Easter Sunday. I think it's only one of the two or three days in the year the supermarkets shut, so maybe they've gotten rid of all their stocks to avoid dumping them after Easter Sunday. I don't know.

So this year, I'm Easter eggless 😕. Luckily, last week, my sister, ie Baby Arthur's granny gave me a little chicky that she'd knitted herself. The chicky comes with a Kinder surprise inside, I'll have to made do with that for my Easter egg this year.

It seems like Granny has been busy with her Easter knitting recently. She sent me some photos of what she's been up to, perfect for my Granny knits for Baby Arthur series. Here's the whole gang of the Easter knits.

The first one up, is the little chicky she gave me. You can see he has a fat tummy, that's where he's hidden the surprise egg. I love the rainbow hat little chicky has, and the scarf is removable so he can wear it in different ways. He certainly looks like a fashion conscious littly chicky.

Next is a pair of Easter bunnies. I think they look a bit like Yoda with ears pointing upwards instead of sideways. But then, what do I know about Yoda? I don't even watch Star Wars. I only know about Yoda as the emoji keeps on appearing on some of the Discord channels. Anyway, I think these bunnies looks very wise, maybe because of the white patch on the face, I think it makes them look like wise old men with a beard. I love the colouful easter eggs they're holding.

Next are Super Teddies. They don't have an easter theme, but if you notice, they have a big fat belly like my little chicky, I reckon they've hidden a surprise easter egg there as well. Granny must have knitted them for Baby Arthur, I think all little boys love Superman, but Baby Arthur's a bit too young for them yet.

And finally, I love these knitted easter baskets. They are so versatile, comes in different sizes and colours, and can hold different size eggs. There's even a knitted easter egg as well! I think that's great.

By the way, did you notice in one of the other photos, there's a minion doll? I keep on forgetting to ask Granny if he's hidden any easter egg in his belly as well. It's a bit difficult to tell from the photo, and he's a large fella, larger than the others. I think if he does hide easter eggs in his belly, he's probably got two!! I must remember to ask Granny next time I see her.

Well, it seems Baby Arthur has plenty of easter eggs for his first easter. Too bad he doesn't eat chocolate year. I'm sure next year he'll be munching away happily. Happy Easter everyone, and hope you find lots of easter eggs!

This is the fifth post in my Granny knits for Baby Arthur series. This series showcases the knitting done by my sister, and I'm sharing it here to help build a toy fund for her grandchild Baby Arthur, hence the series name. If you missed the introduction post, you can check it out here.

Wow your sister has been really busy with her knitting. With the very little time I have on my hands I look forward one day to be able to knit for a whole day. 😄 I have no idea what that’s like. It takes me weeks/months to complete one project lol.

I love your little chicky and it’s colorful hat. I like the whole gang she knitted :)

You got a lot on your hands with so many little ones to look after, I don't know how you manage! My sister is four grown ups vs one baby, if I remember correctly you're five (?) children vs you 😉

Yes! you are right (^_^), I might as well start to learn to crochet.

They are sooo cute! What a clever idea. I can't believe that you didn't get eggs in time. Never mind. I got some at very last minute for my nephews!

Typical me, always leaving things the last minute ☹️

The Easter gang. I love everyone but I took notice of the Minion first and thought that you were leaving him out in the post and I was surely going to point that out to you in the comment section. But you got back to him and everything felt right about the post again 🤗.

Happy Easter to you and I do hope you have a lovely day.

Mustn't forget about Minion!!

Happy Easter to you as well @gems.and.cookies

I really like the easter bunny knits. To be honest I thought they were donkeys when I first saw them. A donkey would be an interesting animal to create but an easter bunny makes more sense given the occasion lol.
They are all very good!

Now you mention it, they do look a bit like donkeys as well!

Hope you're having a great Easter as can be, and hope all is well your neck of the woods. Stay safe!

Happy Easter! Your sister is amazing! These are even more impressive than the sweaters for baby Arthur. She should consider selling some on Etsy 💰

We too took to shops too late but luckily managed to snap some easter chocolates from what was left 😁

She selling her Barbie clothes on Ebay ad a hobby, think she said etsy charges are quite high.

Hope you had a great Easter?

It was wonderful, thank you!

Oh, so Etsy actually charges you to sell? Makes sense why people sell so high now.

same issue here...lol

That's so annoying!

Back in Christmas, my local Tesco was still selling their Finest Christmas dessert at full price all the way up to end of the year, dunno why Easter egg sold out so soon 😤

I know right my mum also crochets stuff like that in your pic lol

Hello, @

What a beautiful art of your sister (creation, colors and lucky your child. It is a work where you break the stereotypes to save an egg.
I tell you that the same thing happened to me as to you, two days before Easter, I had a hard time finding eggs for my daughter, until I finally found two Kinder eggs, I could solve. Quite a marketing strategy.
I congratulate you because you share a personal experience with content of tradition and family union.
Hugs
