Hey, Hivers! How are you doing? How’s the year coming along? 2023 started with exams for me. I’ve done six papers already and the last one will be on Friday. This is me typing on my phone this morning after putting off making this post for the longest time. It’s the NeedleWorkMonday community’s

So here goes my bucket list!

Starting with the first on the first on the list, amigurumi is something that I’ve loved since I began to see projects on Pinterest and Instagram. If you don’t know what it is, it is the Japanese word for the art of knitting or crocheting stuffed creatures or toys. Amigurumi projects look like these:A4640651-429C-4314-8BD3-443CCAEC74ED.jpeg

My friend who never sees a crochet clothing to the end finds it easier doing little amigurumi projects because it takes less time. But, I’ve never tried doing one, so I’ve resolved to this year. I must try my hand at amigurumi!

I’ve also resolved to learn embroidery and liven up so many items with this beautiful craft. Pinterest is full of so many eye-catching flower designs on Converse canvas high-tops, tote bags, jeans, and T-shirts. I want to embroider daisies, tulips, lavenders and sunflowers — the lot! They bring life to a drab item or make an otherwise basic outfit look more stylish.

Tapestry Crochet had to be on this list. Tapestry crochet is used to incorporate colours into a crochet work. It can be used to add images to a drawing. I see crochet clothing with pictures and it always stands out. It takes the pieces to another level, making the pieces look more artsy. I’ve never worked with even letters on any crochet piece and I’ve planned that this year, I must make my crochet pieces look extraordinary.

Since I began to crochet, it has always been my plan to make a business out of it. I love to crochet items for myself and that’s something I cannot give up. I also find the idea of making pieces for others and getting money from it exciting. To think that I can crochet something that someone would want to buy is amazing and I cannot wait to start doing that.

I haven’t taken an order since I started crochet though. It’s not like people haven’t hit me up. They have, but I’ve always felt that I needed to get things right before taking an order. At first, I wanted to be good with working with measurement. Then, when I learnt how to, one thing or the other still kept me from taking any order. This year, I’m going all in. And that’s the first step to starting my business. Taking an order and doing a good job of it will set me off. I’ve already got a brand name. The others will follow.

Tunisian Crochet is a craft where you crochet with an elongated hook to give the work a knit-look. In Tunisian Crochet, you carry along a lot of loops as is done in knitting. I only just added this to my list because I love the look of knitted items, but do not like the idea of working with two needles. I would prefer to do Tunisian Crochet instead, so I will buy a set of hooks and try it out. I had to make sure one can make clothing like tops and dresses with it. Yes, one can! So now, I can achieve a knit look without actually knitting — how lovely!

We’re expected to tick at least one item off our bucket list, so having presented my bucket list, let’s see how I do these three months.

Till then, beautiful people. Ciao!

Thanks for joining the challenge! I love that you listed out your bucket list and even the supplies you’ll need. 😊

Amigurumi is a lot of fun and I think you’ll enjoy it. I too love the look of Tunisian crochet. That’s a smart way to be able to get the look of a knitwear without having to learn the craft. I fidget with learning how to knit as it feels so awkward from a crocheter’s standpoint but I do hope to get used to it one day. The knitters of our community have turned me on to wanting to make my own socks. 😄

Congratulations on stepping out and starting your business. I wish you much success and happiness with this new venture. I know we’ll be hearing all about it along the way (hint hint 😁😉) ~

😊Thank you so much @crosheille! I decided to present my bucket list first so that by the end of the challenge, everyone will see which I accomplish and didn’t accomplish.

I am really looking forward to see you starting/completing those different projects!!!😊

😊I better get started then!

I agree with learning amigurumi, because it happens to me exactly the same as you, although I always leave it pending. I hope you can achieve those goals 🌺

Me too, but I’m more determined this time! Thank you @imena.

Hi @filomenob, I know you will do great, you just need to get started.

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I just need to get started!

 last year

I think that the first step to start doing what we want is to specify it on paper. Your wish list looks very complete, I hope you can achieve everything. The business thing seems like an excellent idea to me: there should be nothing better than clients valuing your work and surely that will encourage you to continue improving and learning.

I wish you good luck and I hope you manage to complete the list. Cheers ❤️!

That was what I thought too, so I had to write them out. Thank you @lauramica.

It's great that you have been encouraged to make your #Bucket list. The amigurumi is very demanding art, the tapestry more friendly. Happy day to you.

The problem I have with amigurumi is the filling. I do not know where to get it in my country as I haven’t seen any online shop that sell it.

A happy day to u too.
