MyPictureDay Challenge Round #8 - An illegal excursion.

in My Picture Day4 years ago

We are still on Level 3 of Lockdown in South Africa. We only live 200m from the beach but with the lockdown we are not allowed on the beach. Can't see why, it doesn't make sense as 50 people are allowed in a shop but we are not allowed to walk on the beach where there is no people.

So on Wednesday this week we decided we had enough and off we went breaking the rules.

It was mid afternoon and a nice sunny day. The above photo is the picture you saw when you go down the steps to the little bridge that take you over the lagoon onto the beach.

This scene is a long-time favourite of mine and I always enjoy going down that steps.

Just before you step onto the bridge and you look to your left then you see this picture of the lagoon in the afternoon sun. It looked extra enchanting to me maybe because I've seen it longer than 2 months ago.

When you are on the bridge and you look to your left then you can see the whole river. This is the Itongasi river. There is always nice reflections on the water from the boulders and the vegetation on the banks of the river.

Then once you over the little bridge you step onto the sand of the beach and the beautiful Ocean before you. What a sight that was and the feeling of the warm sand caresing my feet.

This beach is called Glenmore Beach. Our dog Max, like us enjoy the beach and the ocean very much.

He just love to go play in the surf. We walked up the hill overlooking the ocean while Max was playing. Not trying our luck for too long on the beach. Lots of people already were arrested on beaches during the lockdown.

There is a bench there up the hill where we always sit down and watch the ocean. Down below on the rocks there is this big tree stump that came down the river last year April when we had some big floods. There was also 2 guys that were testing the lockdown rules trying to catch some fish.

Another guy was coming out of the ocean on his Canoe.

I also manage to caught some seagulls in flight. That was my first attempt to photograph birds flying.

It was getting late and we started to walk home. We have this walkways along the ocean and a much more scenic way to get home.

I also love to photograph some of the wild flowers that grows along the paths. Some of them are so small but so absolutely perfect.

This outing also provide some much-needed exercise and it's such a wonderful way to excercise. With all the beauty that surrounds you, you can literally walk for kilometres on end.

This route that we took home is not more than two kilometres, but I thought it to be far enough for my first walk since the lockdown two months ago.

There is always more treasures to find along the way like this patch of nasturtiums. I love to stop there and pick some for my mom to take home. She is in a wheelchair and cannot join and see the beauty first-handly.

Just before we turn up to go back home there was this beautiful Arum lilies. The last picture I took on this excursion.

All the photos were taken with my Samsung A10.

I can see why you decided to rebel against the level 3 quarantine and enjoy an outing at the incredible Glenmore Beach! The scenery is unbelievably beautiful! Even Max was happy and appreciated his master's choice!🐾

I know the positive therapeutic benefits the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean have on oneself.🌊

Excellent post! @hope777
