How to install lightening arrestor and coax cable termination

Installing lightening arrestor to telecommunication equipment is a must and very vital, a standard that must be adhere to. In this vlog I share with you how I installed a lightening arrestor to a cell booster installation.

So the main idea is to prevent the equipment from damage in the case of lightening strike. The lightening arrestor is there to divert the direction of the lightening through a ground cable in to the ground with minimum bend on the direction of the ground cable as it is routed to the ground as much as possible.

The Lightening arrestor I used here was a N-Male to N-Female Type.

So my earthing installation is dressed as shown above.

Ideally the ground cable is to be routed down and connected to a ground rod/earth spike but some build structures are so complicated in doing that and requires longer cable run, so in this case I connected my earthing to an existing earthing installation which is the building's. Every building should be earthed anyway.

Above is how it would look like if I am to route the ground cable down to a ground spike.

In this installation I used LMR 195 and LMR 240 coax cable, the termination process is pretty simple as shown in the video.

This kind of installation is just for house or small office block, a much bigger approach is implemented when installing for airports, hospitals etc.

Hopefully I was able to explain properly, thanks for watching.

Cheers.
