(FF7) Introduction and Quick Video of A Humbling Moment

in Nerday3 years ago

Hello Nerdy!

I have been poking my head around here for the last few days and I finally have the perfect first post for this community!

A quick intro is always great when jumping into a new scene. So, first up a brief introduction! My name is Brandon and I have been a gamer for now almost three decades. From Super Nintendo to Sega Genesis, to Playstation 1 and Nintendo 64, here we are in 2021 and I sometimes still rock the PS4.

Pokemon, Final Fantasy, FPS, Puzzlers, Action, I PLAYED IT ALL! As the years progressed, I got heavily swept up into storytelling and also the hero's journey so RPGs just became my thing.

Teenage angst? No problem. Go game.
Breakups? No problem. Go game.
Time to kill and want to read but don't want to READ a book? No problem. Go game.
I could keep going but I digress.

One of the greatest moments in gaming for me, as with many was the great original Final Fantasy VII. From seeing the graphics when they first came out, to the fateful moment you know who peaced out for good.

OH! And the spontaneous use of Omnislash (which at the time I was too young to get on my own) at the end of the game was mindblowing! This game was something I played over, and over, and over again. I played it with only items. I played it with original equip. I played it with one character only. I tried it all. I got Knights of the Round, I killed all Weapons. I got all Lucky 7's. I CRUSHED IT!

Needless to say, this game cemented into my head as with many others, one of the greatest moments in my memory. I like many, as the years and graphics progressed, were mentally willing a remake to take place. Every year, we thought we were closer but no evidence would ever show. Just online rumors. Fast forward even MORE years, STILL NOTHING!

Fast forward even MORE years, wait, what's this? AN actual image of a remake? A DVD using new graphics in a post-FF7 movie?! Are we getting close?

Fast forward to 2018 or so and we ALL knew it was finally coming true. Sure enough 2020 hit and guess what? We all manifested this crazy remake.

Not only that, but I manifested several kids by this point, and needless to say gaming is not a priority. But for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, I think a PS4Pro is in order. Sure enough, we ordered one and the game.

Say what you want about it, to me it was perfect. It held enough of its originality yet its newness and shine felt very polished. Like they really did take a bunch of time on it. On top of that, it was the first RPG my little girl got to play/see me play and it was a beautiful moment because I had a ton of old memories flood while building new ones.

Now, without further ado, here is a cute clip of the very beginning of the game through the lens of myself and the excitement of my little one.

Thanks for reading Nerday community!
