My sister came up for the weekend and we took an offroad journey out to Alstrom point and these are some of the shots from out here ... yes there is decent cell 0home service and I transferred some pictures from my camera to my phone.

Even got a few shots of the truck which the companies that I give pictures to for the truck are always happy about.

@sjarvie5 was taking some pictures so I made her freeze for a bit while I framed up a few nice pictures.

I'm posting from my phone but when she gets back home stay tuned for a very well documented post I'm certain of it. Lots of plants and flowers... actually we started driving to head back to civilization and I stopped for a moment to do this post so I could use the "on the spot" community and she's taking pictures of some flowers while I write this.

I found this small little bridge that gave me some fun little sunrise and scenic framing opportunities

Great pictures! Such a beautiful place. Excited to see my pictures.

I'm sure you'll get to them before I go through all of mine

Such amazing shots of great views. All are spectacular but the last one I just cant get over how incredible that is

These are awesome. I need to make my way down there and check this place out.

Damn fine job man! Amazing landscapes. Is it quiet there?

Yeah not many people are ever on that road... there were a few ATVs and a few people camped out at the point. But 60 miles of road and only a handful of vehicles it's hard not to be quiet

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

What a view!

Very nice!

Oh. That is gorgeous, simply gorgeous.

Can you see the Colorado River Silt yet at Alstrom Point? Do you know how much further up river you need to go before the silt becomes visible? I haven't been there in a few years, and with the CV I'm not going to make it this year, either.

At any rate, I just love the Grand Escalante in general and the very south of it in particular.

Thanks. I really needed that.

Alstrom is pretty far down lake not even close to half way up

Yeah. I'm aware, but I'm also really worried for Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam. One million cubic yards of silt enter the lake every year. My math (and only mine-nothing official) says 2055 could be tip over year. Particularly with the lower than expected river flow. It really is time for me to go check on both sides of the river....
