This week's theme is "Shadow Snitch" and here is my entry for this week's theme. To be honest this card is not strong in the lower league like silver, or even gold. I believe its true value starts in Gold when it gets the Affliction ability, which can be helpful since death focuses on debuffing enemies. And in Champion, it will get the Dodge ability which is so helpful since this card will be your secondary tank. This can also fit in the rumored new death meta which I call "Speedy Death", I might make a post about this in the coming days.

I ain't no snitch, biatch.

THE LORE:

Shadow Snitches are created by the conjurers of the Chaos Legion. Weaving Death magic, they breathe life into beings made completely of darkness. The purpose of the Shadow Snitches is to be deployed into lands prior to the Chaos Legion's invasion. Moving from shadow to shadow, they are listeners and watchers, feeding information back to the Chaos Legion.

But once the invasion is complete, the Shadow Snitches still serve a purpose. They can locate and follow high-value targets, reporting back on movements to Chaos Legion leadership. If needed, Shadow Snitches can also capture prisoners and bring them back for interrogation.

Devon ran down the narrow alleyway, panting and his heart thundering in his chest.

Panic ran like electricity through his body, spurring him on as he splashed through mucky puddles and jumped over piles of trash.

It was just behind him. He knew. The creature. The creature of shadow.

It wanted him because of what he knew. Valuable information for this person that Devon knew of only in whispers.

The Voice.

He stumbled around a corner and came face-to-face with a dead end.

“No!” he gasped.

Devon spun around, eyes as round as two full moons. Had he lost his pursuer?

Suddenly two shadowy arms shot out from the dark corner behind him. One spindly hand grasped his torso, the other closed around his face to cut off his scream.

Devon was dragged back into the darkness.

It was time for an interrogation.

Battle using "Shadow Snitch" in lower league

Battle Link

image.png

Well there is no other way to play Shadow Snitch other than putting it in the second position and hope that your plan works and it absorbs a lot of damage in case your tank dies, my cards are good bronze league level so, currently it is level 3, and with 2 speed and 6 Health, I think it is a decent secondary tank. And to be honest, I have just used shadow snitch in there for the challenge, and to actually see if it can work if I often use it as a secondary tank.

MY LINEUP

Summoner: THADDIUS BROOD

|| - 1 Magic|| - 1 Health|| 4 Mana||Death

Messing with the dark arts should not be taken lightly. But that was the risk that Thaddius Brood took. A curious young man fascinated by the occult, he took to casting rituals and holding dark ceremonies. And it wasn't long before he got in touch with a dark entity that drove him into madness.

His family sent him to an asylum, but it only worsened his condition. And the entity within him festered and grew more powerful. Soon there was no boundary between Thaddius and it. Using his newfound dark magic, Thaddius broke from his prison and now wreaks havoc everywhere he goes. Through his rituals, he got into contact with Doctor Blight. And the Doctor was fascinated with his power.

Thaddius has now joined the ranks of the Chaos Legion as an agent in the Splinterlands, sowing death wherever he can.

I have anticipated that he's going to use magic so I went with this summoner, and debuffs his magic attacks, this summoner is a hard counter for magic just like Mimosa Nightshade, Death splinters are now stronger than ever against magic opponents. Chaos Legion, I think will not be magic meta anymore instead it will be speed/avoid meta.

Tank: BONE GOLEM

||Void||7 Mana||3 Melee||1 Speed||2 Armor||6 Health||Level 1

Bones are plentiful in the land of the dead. The creation of Bone Golems is one of the few ways that Dark Eternal Sorcerers can express their individuality. Zintar Motalis, for example, is known for crafting Golems from sharpened and jagged bones, while the Cryptmancer creates behemoths of polished and rounded bones, designed to smash and batter. No matter how it was built, a Bone Golem is a destructive and unnatural beast of the dark.

Bone Golem is a good tank against a magic lineup and since I have anticipated a magic lineup, and since I have used a summoner that debuffs magic, of course, I will be using a summoner that has a high defense against magic, since I have reduced their magic damage there is a high chance that they will be able to damage Bone Golem with the help of Void ability, which also reduces magic attack damage to this card.

Second Position/Secondary Tank: Shadow Snitch

|| Reach|| 4 Mana|| 1 Melee|| 2 Speed|| 6 Health|| Level 3

We will skip the lore since it is already above, so as stated, I am experimenting if Shadow Snitch is really a good secondary tank, so I used him in this lineup. Also, I have just really used this for the meantime because of the challenge that we have now. I don't think this card is bad I just don't have the situation that I find this card more valuable. Though this card can be really valuable in the higher league since it will have the Affliction and Dodge ability, Maybe it would be a great secondary tank by then.

Third Position/Sniper: DEATH ELEMENTAL

||Snipe||3 Mana||1 Magic||3 Speed||2 Health||Level 1

Death is one of the elemental forces of nature, which can be summoned in its raw form by a skilled Dark Eternal summoner. The dark and whispy energetic form is a terrifying force in battle. The Lord of Darkness refuses to call Death Elementals by their rightful name, insisting that theirs is not a magic of death, but life.

Death Elemental is one of my favorite cards especially against Earth Splinter since most of the time Unicorn Mustang is used a tank and some magic damager has no effect on it but this one will attack monsters with ranged, magic, or no attack that is not on the first position since it has the Snipe, and this guy has magic attack so this guy cannot miss, which is important for a snipe attack, they cannot afford to a single miss, you want to take that backline damage as early as possible, with only 3 mana this guy is useful in low mana battles, though as the mana goes up and the new Magi Necrosi coming into play, this might devalue it a little bit at least in the lower league, since Death Elemental is a beast once it gets to level and it gets the Silence ability which reduces all magic attack and it will add more value to this card together with Thaddius Brood they will bring devastation to all magic users, with only 3 mana you can fit this card in any lineup, and with 4 Speed at level 4 this will fit perfect with the Speedy Death lineup in the modern format.

Fourth Position/Sneak: SILENT SHA-VI

|| Sneak|| 4 Mana|| 3 Melee|| 4 Speed|| 5 Health|| Level 3

Silent Sha-vi are entities from the shadow realm that take the form of giant snakes. They travel in darkness and shadow as if each dark corner is a gateway that leads elsewhere. They have an appetite for slow and creeping deaths, feeding off the escalating fear of the victim. If you think there might be a monster under your bed, it's probably a Silent Sha-vi.

Since I have anticipated that they are going with Earth Magic, and I know that there will be a lot of healing I have focused my lineup to break his backline since Magic Lineup has its weakest point, in my opinion, Magic is squishy, so focusing on the backline makes the difference unless he has a lot of ability to support his backline, like Protect or Divine Shield there is no way he is able to withstand the attacks I am doing on his backline before my tanks are dead. With 3 Melee, 4 Speed, and 5 Health this card is great in taking down your opponents' backline while it can also sustain the attacks against it. With 4 Speed, this will also fit perfectly with the Speedy Death lineup in the modern format.

Fifth Position/Sneak: URAEUS

||Sneak||3 Mana||2 Melee||2 Speed||1 Armor||2 Health||Level 2

There is a famous circus camp in the Smoldering Forest of the Burning Lands called The Sirk. It has the boldest daredevils, the most agile acrobats, and the most distinguished freaks anywhere in the Splinterlands. These performers are especially well known for their daring games with the most dangerous creatures in the world. They hold staring contests with sabrecats and shut themselves into small boxes with rabid Maglarian wolverines. When it comes to snakes, these daredevils have one rule: Don’t mess with a Uraeus.

Well since I was focusing on the backlines, why not use the Epic Uraeus also one of the great epic cards with low mana, and it has Sneak ability too which can easily kill enemy backlines, this card is a beast in gold having Poison, but it is not to be trifled with in lower league too, this guy has decent attack and ability for a 3 mana card, so watch out for SNAKES, they are everywhere.

Last Position/Sniper: MAGI NECROSI

|| Snipe|| 6 Mana|| 2 Magic|| 4 Speed|| 4 Health|| Level 1

Four hundred years before the first rift opened, the first whispers of chaos brought dark beasts under a blood moon to the Tower of Azdurj. Creatures of nightmare began hunting by night, lurking the valleys and crawling on the wind.

In desperation, the acolytes of Azdurj sought forbidden tomes, long sealed beneath their tower. By the candlelight of hidden recesses within their tower's crypt, the first Necrosi were born. Forged to battle the spawn of Chaos, these bounty hunters are eager to take up the fight.

This card is also one of the cards that can attack the backlines, I can say this guy is an upgrade version of Death Elemental, they both have snipe, but this guy has the Camouflage which makes him impossible to hit as long as he is in the back position unless he got hit by someone with Scattershot ability, which shoots randomly. This card is a great backline attacker and can definitely burst cards on opponents' decks, better watch out for this card on the battlefield.

Please note that "Speedy Lineup" is the term I use for the new meta that I can feel in death splinter" it is my own opinion and named it on my own, it is not a thing yet but it will be soon 🤣. Sources are also already highlighted in the texts.

My thoughts about Shadow Snitch and this battle

I think Shadow Snitch has real value in the higher league when it gets the Affliction and Dodge ability, but so far it is pretty decent with good speed and good health this will do for the lower league but not a go-to guy definitely. Maybe there will be a situation that it can increase your win rate when you use this card but I have not figured it out yet at least.

With regards to the battle the outcome is clear, he was hard countered and he somewhat messed up with his positioning in there, but I will not tackle it now on my post, since I think this has been too long already. But as for the battle, I wrecked him pretty hard though I still believe there is a chance he could win if he hadn't put the non-attacking guy in the first position since it would be the first target that my snipers will attack and that will give return damage to me. But, it is only a 10% chance he wins, 🤣 I still believed my lineup would have crushed him unless he got some protection to his backline.

That is it for my Weekly Battle Challenge. I hope you have enjoyed it!
