Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR

in Splinterlandslast year

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Legionnaire Alvar card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Legionnaire Alvar

Legionnaire Alvar is a neutral splinter card that costs 9 mana. It starts with void armor, learns giant killer at level 2, demoralize at level 3 and deathblow at level 4. It's a tanky card that is meant to take hits while the rest of your monsters attack. I don't use it very often but I think it can be a great tank. Just having the ability to have magic hit the armor first makes it worthwhile and the rest of ability just make it more powerful.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is weak magic and equalizer. This means that all monsters will have their armor hit first and they start with the same amount of health. There is also 58 mana available and I am left with the choice of water or dragon splinter.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Drake of Arnak. In a match like this, I think that adding 1 armor will make it harder for me to die and my cards can be played at their highest level.

My plan is just to have a lineup using a few tanky monsters up in front and to use as many monsters with physical attack to take damage. I used Diamond Dragon in the last spot for sneak monsters due to it's base armor of 10 and the flying ability. It also has slow so it will give my monsters a higher chance of attacking.

Round 1

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup due to his levle 1 summoner. I don't think there will be an issue at all because my melee attackers will be buffed and I have two cards with double attack in my lineup. The resurrect will help my tank revive if it does go down to give me more time.

Round 2

round 2.png

Nothign died but my opponent is slowly losing his cards. The double attack monsters are doing great for damage.

Round 3

round 3.png

Two cards died on my opponents side and I have used my resurrect. However, there won't be any issues because I am faster than my opponent.

Round 4

round 4.png

I don't think there is any way for my opponent to come back from this and my cards will attack first due to the speed difference.

I won with all my cards alive on the field.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The lineup I went for had had a decent amount of damage and the double inspiration (+2 melee attack) worked well with the double attack monsters. The resurrect worked exactly as intended and Legionnaire Alvar did a great job of tanking all the attacks.

The +1 armor from Drake of Arnak didn't do much but it was good to have it as an extra damage sink incase my opponent could attack my monsters. Besides that, I think my opponent's level 1 summoner hurt him. I wonder if it was just a bot but I think my lineup was sufficient strong enough to fight against most teams.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

No mercy on your opponent there lol. Nice double Inspire lineup, I enjoy it when that is done successfully.

Yea the double inspire is amazing. My opponent was using under leveled cards but I still think I would have won if they weren't though.
