Splinterlands Weekly Challenge Battle! MYCELIC MORPHOID

in Splinterlands2 years ago

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Mycelic Morphoid card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Mycelic Morphoid

Carrion Shade is a earth splinter card that costs 1 mana. It starts with no skill and later learns the thorns ability at level 3. It doesn't earn much in terms of stats but I think the thorns ability definitely makes up for it.

After checking the stats, I think this card is amazing if I can get it to level 3. After that, the stats go up but I don't really care about that as much. The thorns ability is what I want. I think this is a great card to place in my final spot for those sneak monsters. So I decided to buy a gold foil version of this card off Monstermarket.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is silenced summoner and heal out. This means that summoners abilities don't take place and monsters can't heal. There is 32 mana available and everything can be used except for dragon. From what I see here, the abilities that my card has will be vital towards whether or not I can win.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Wizard of Eastwood. I used it because it is my highest level earth summoner and the ability is useless for this fight.

My plan is to have Unicorn Mustang as my void magic tank. It also has great attack and speed. The rest of my line up and the reasons can be found above and the Mycelic Morphoid is in the last spot for those sneak monsters.

Round 1

round 1.png

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have a good chance and it will be dangerous for me because of the final monster in my opponent's lineup. My opponent only has 1 magic monster but my Queen Mycelia should help me in this fight. Overall, I think my line up is quite strong and my damage output is quite large. If I can get a few dodges, then I think the match should be in my favor.

Round 2

round 2.png

My Unicorn Mustang is in danger but I did take out his tank. The rest of his lineup doesn't have much health and I have 3 fast and strong monsters in the front. So I think my chances are quite good to survive long enough.

Round 3

round 3.png

I took out quite a few cards but I forgot that my opponent can only attack every 2 rounds but it does 3x damage. So I lost my backup tank in one hit. Now I will win so long as Mitica Headhunter does not miss 2 attacks. His tank will take 2 turns to charge up and my cards will survive 2 rounds because it gets to Mitica Headhunter. One thing to note was that the sneak monster died after killing off my Mycelic Morphoid.

I was lucky enough to land my attack the first time around and won the match.

Conclusion

The battle this time did not go exactly as I expected but Mycelic Morphoid worked exactly like intended. My opponent had exactly one sneak monster but I was able to trade it off with my Mycelic Morphoid. The thorns definitely did the trick to take out one monster on my opponent's side and the extra +2 shield helped it live long enough. The rest of my lineup was quite strong and they did a great job taking out his tank and cards fast. I just wasn't expecting my backup tank to die in one hit so it ended up being a game of luck in the end.

As the ruleset negates summoners, I think we can ignore that section and my cards were lower leveled compared to my opponent. I was just glad that my cards were able to wipe out his cards in a timely manner. Overall, I think my opponent's team was quite strong and I could have lost if I missed a few attacks. The extra zero mana monsters seem quite useful and my opponent had that tank an extra hit. They are expensive but I may have to buy them for myself.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

Sort:

Mycelic Morphoid is really useful at the backline with that thorns ability, it was geed idea you had Queen Mycelia in the lineup providing the armor support. Interesting battle!

Yea I love using Queen Mycelia in battles with earth splinters. At a mana cost of 4, her +2 armor can make the difference between a win and loss.
