Becoming Aimless!

Hello Splinterfans!

This week we have the new Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge with the ruleset Aimless.

You may be forgiven for thinking that Aimless is the opposite ruleset of Aim True that we had last week, but it is actually meaning to give all your monsters the scattershot ability.

Normally you might target the rear or the front of your enemy for an attack, and then aimless comes along and throws that out of the window! What is even more to remember is that the aimless ability can also hit camoflaged monsters too! What a double whammy! That low mana hidden monster that you used to put tucked away at the end is no longer protected!!

All monster will have the scattershot ability so it makes sense to ensure you have monsters with a decent amount of mana but whether to go for an attacking tank or not could also be a good idea to consider.

On to this week's battle.

My Team

This is a low mana battle and I therefore need some good attacking and healing power.

Summoner/ MonsterReason
Mother KhalaExtra health
Xenith MonkHealing ability
Celestial HarpyLow cost melee attack

ROUND 1 - Xenith Monk vs. Pelacor Conjurer

My main consideration was to have a tank with some heal ability, so that he could survive whilst the scattershot game played on with the backrow monsters.

Stepping into the tank role here is the mighty Xenith Monk who I have recently upgraded as he becomes quite formidable with his heal ability. For my scattershot attack, I have opted for Uraeus and Harpy who should provide some decent attack on the enemy spraying poison everywhere!

My opponent has made a smart move with Stitch Leech as he will grow his health with each attack. Have I mis-calculated here?

In the first round, both Fiends fall along with my opponent's Chaos Agent.

ROUND 2

In round 2, I lose my Harpy which is a big blow, but not as bad as Pelacor Conjurer falling for my opponent. With his tank gone, Stitch Leech must step into the tank role and face off Xenith Monk. It is 2 vs. 2. Who will pull off the win here?

ROUND 3

In round 3, the Harpy's scattershot targets on my Xenith Monk but luckily for me, he has 8 health and survives. Unluckily for the Harpy, Uraeus takes her out and Stitch Leech is on his own.

Round 4

With the reverse speed ruleset, Stitch Leech should be faster plus will gain 2 health for each attack. Not only that, with a 3 attack score, he could be pretty lethal. There is no worry about the scattershot ruleset anymore, all attacks will hit the tanks.

In round 4, Stitch Leech's attack isn't strong enough to trouble Xenith Monk and he receives a blow from both my monsters. Not only that, Uraeus delivers some lethal poison that drops at the start of round 5 to finish off Stitch Leech. It's all over.

Summary:

With the Aimless ruleset, making sure to choose monsters with a decent amount of mana or shield is important as sods law states that if something bad will happen, it usually will. Therefore, it is best to try and avoid the situation and put some decent mana sized monsters in your lineup.

Adding Celestial Harpy was probably not the best choice here with the low mana score, but due to the low mana game, I was limited with choices.

Other things to consider are to add monsters with the repair or heal ability, this could help protect some monsters who lose their shield or health and help keep them alive longer.

I like using cards with double strike in am aimless battle. The celestial harpy has a flight ability if it was against a melee of range, I guess you weren't just lucky. Good game nonetheless.

That is a great tactic, the double-strike monsters have caused my downfall more than a few times!

Hahaha it's very useful in such games especially if they hit the right card that needs hitting
