Going Soulbound!

Hello Splinterfans!

We have now had a few seasons with which to gather our Soulbound cards and I thought it would be a good time to have a look at what cards I have won (as you can only get them through playing) and see what impact they have had on my deck and playing.

First up are the cards in my fire deck. I have a new summoner still at level 1, some ranged attack that could be useful and one of the interesting cards is the melee attack from Ferox Defender.

Although Ferox Defender is a high cost of 8 mana, he has some reasonable stats and the great "protect" ability. This gives all my team members +2 shield. This would come in very handy. I also have him currently at level 4 which is good.

But even better with him is that at level 6, he has the repair ability. This means he will repair some armor each turn. Therefore, I can imagine him being essential in many high/medium mana battles with game rules equal opportunity, melee mayhem or sneak where all melee monsters can attack from any position.

Looking for something that might not be so obvious, the Iidri Fyre has really peaked my interest because it is a medium mana card but with some interesting abilities that could come in handy in certain situations for the fire deck.

With many of the fire monsters having a strong attack but low health scores, a taunt monster could maybe come in very helpful to divert your opponents attention allowing you to do more damage while they are distracted. I am still experimenting with this, but hope once Iidri Fyre is levelled up more, this will come in very useful with the extra abilities that could keep it alive longer.

Next up in the water deck you can see we have a few interesting monsters. As I play the water deck quite a bit, so far only Swamp Spitter has been played the most regularly.

It is lucky that I have him already at level 4 and I hope he will keep leveling up even more.

His pretty strong 3 ranged attack can come in useful, but his awesome repair ability is what is really helpful for me. Those mid-mana battles help keep my melee attack alive longer by repairing their shield provided from Keyla Frendel who gives everyone a shield as part of his buff.

I have come across the Coastal Sentry in battle many times and the double strike and piercing can be a lethal combination. Although it is quite a high mana monster, there will be many opportunities to use her. So far mine is too weak to take advantage of, but I hope that once it levels up some more I can put it into use.

In the earth soulbound reward cards, probably the two standout monsters are firstly Fungus Flinger with his popular martyr ability that is currently all the rage amongst players and maybe Madcap Magus as another magic attack monster.

We can see that for a low mana monster, Fugus Flinger is packed with some great abilities too. Perhaps some combinations with Fernheart he could also come in handy.

The not so obvious card here IMO is Thane Newsong who, although with no attack has some pretty handy abilities that I would like to add to my team! I need him to level up some more for him to become really useful, but I am always looking for some way I can tactically place him in my line up to surprise my opponent.

For me, the Life deck is one of my favorite to play even if it isn't one of the strongest. There is something fun about the choice of monsters and abilities that I enjoy.

For me, they have some of the most interesting soulbound monsters that I have gotten so far. I have been very lucky and managed to get my legendary monster Iziar to level 2. Once I get him to level 3, it will become even more interesting because he gets the martyr ability, that will be fun to see in action.

He is a great magic repelling tank and I love to use him with Sloan to hold the line while my ranged attack finishes off my opponent. The new additions to the life deck seem to be countering the strength of magic against it as we see with the next great card, Imperial Knight.

At level 4, he is still not interesting for me yet, but once he reaches level 5 and gets that heal ability.. wow, with only a 7 mana cost, I can see him coming in very useful..

Also worth a mention, although still too low-level for me right now is the War Pegasus. I can see him coming in very helpful for those ranged battles and Earthquake rule games, giving you a few more options to combine with your ranged attack.

In the death deck, the cards look to be very useful too. Although I am not using the death deck very much, Possessed Puppet and Ravenhood Warden seem the stand out cards so far.

Possessed Puppet with the double-strike will be something to keep an eye on, but the low health score is a bit of a weakness.

The additions to my dragon deck so far are just the summoner and Kra'ar Xoc. So far at this level, they are both not so interesting for me and yeah, I'm no real stand out cards here yet.

Finally, we come to the neutral monsters and you can see I have managed to get a couple of gold foils and only to level 3 so far.

For me, the standout is of course Venari Marksrat with his low mana cost and martyr ability. I try to slot him in where possible to take advantage of that. With his low attack score, he is useful the most combined with Sloan in the modern league because in wild there are many options already.

So far just 1 legendary and a handful of gold foils, but my cards are leveling up nicely and there are some good additions to my deck. I hope that I can get some more legendaries and see how they might slot in to my deck and tactics.
