That image of the projectile flying by the drive is cool.

I shoot a lot of long range and took some video of trace a while back. I'll have to find it. There's something very satisfying about watching bullet trace as the projectile flies down range.

Nice revolvers. I have an iMac that needs shooting. I just need to find the right location to do it. :)

Yeah I was surprised I captured that my camera is by no means a high speed camera.. Just recording at 60 FPS.

Hehe yeah I have shot tracers, they are indeed fun. And when they ping off and just fly into space its pretty crazy looking.

Best of luck retiring that old Mac, I should do the same. Though I have burned a computer case with thermite and that was alot of fun.

Thermite is indeed enjoyable. Tannerite also. Much fun.

Tracers pinging off stuff is pleasing indeed, captivates the eye really. Or maybe that's just the feeling of operating a machine gun.

I really need to get onto that iMac thing, it's just begging for a suitable send off.

Hehe yeah ive set up Tannerite targets too.

Set up some cameras when you take out the iMac, would make for some good video.

Cameras then hive post was the plan. 😊

I didn't know you were into guns, @solominer!
These are mine!

You got a 1911...excellent!

A lot of people like them!

Wooooa 🙂

That's a lot of guns there!!! Is that a pink Smithe and Wesson?

Hahaha. yeah... my favorite.😜
I carry it (in the car), @livinguktaiwan 😍!

You must not live in Los Angeles, where I used to live in LA you could not carry a pistol in your car. And getting a permit was very very difficult.

Or maybe your not following the law :-P

I live in California. I got my license to concealed carry without any problem.

Oh wow that must have been very difficult.

I got a concealed carry too, but for me it was as simple as going the local court and applying for one in Georgia. Reapplying is even easier.. just like getting tags on your car.

We can open carry including in the car without any licences.

Nice collection of pistols there! I got myself a couple more too. I got a Ruger .22, a glock 9mm, ruger blackhawk .44, the lawman and now the King Cobra.

Loving your 1911 :-)

Gold, silver, and guns!

The Lawman is a DA, though, right? I was under the impression it was kind of like a budget version of the famed Python.

Thats a good question, I am really not sure. Years back I took the Lawman to a gunsmith to verify that. They said its indeed a single action, but when I shot it in the video it fired twice without cocking back the hammer... So I am not really sure.

Its pretty old, probably from the 1970s.

I suggest finding another gunsmith.

Oh okay, I only used him once and was not all that impressed. So yeah I will look for another.

The gun culture is so different in the States, something quite difficult for us to apprehend across the pond. You make it sound like as if you just stroll into the store to buy a new camera 😯

Pretty much, but with a federal background check done on the spot. You fill out a form, the info gets sent to the FBI, and they return an approval usually within minutes.

Some states, like mine, require you either have a permit to purchase obtained from your local police department or a carry permit obtained from your county sheriff for pistol purchases. Or long guns with detachable mags and pistol grips if you want to get into the weeds a bit.

Regular, old fashioned long guns can be purchased here with just the background check though.

That sounds quite scary though, coz it won't detect if a person has mental issues. We (UK) had a shooting the other month, a loony gunned down 5 people including a 3 year old because he couldn't get a girlfriend. Incel was a world we all learnt during that episode as he referred to it in his videos 😔

Incidents like that are tragic but there are good reasons why we have and maintain the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution. Mentally ill people can do violence with knives, cars, and many other things as well.

I'm not sure if there is some central database of mental hospitalizations, but there is a question on the form if you've ever been involuntarily hospitalized. Presumably if you check yes, that is a disqualification.

i really liked your fantastic response to that. Calm, thorough, thoughtful, and truthful.

So true, look at knife crimes in the UK. Gunshots have just been replaced with stabbings.

@livinguktaiwan

Where I live in the South it is as simple as buying anything at a store. I can go in, pick the pistol or rifle or whatever and as long as my background is clean I walk out within 30 minutes with my new gun. The only items I must wait for government approval are NFA items such as silencers and fully automatic rifles. It takes about 6 months to a year to get NFA items.

Where I used to live in California its a very different experience. I would pick my pistol, have to do a written test to prove I can safely handle a gun (on paper). And then wait 2 weeks, for whats called a "cool down" period. And then after at least 2 weeks I can go pick up my pistol.

Its pretty amazing the differences between states in how its handled.

cool collection :)

thanks alot, good to see you my friend. Hope all is well with yall.

someday we drink coffee together :D

Yeah man you gotta try my buttered coffee. If I ever goto Aceh I will hit you up.

The gifs are real nice. I like the name of your revolvers: Lawman

Hehe yeah its got that wild west feeling to it, if its indeed a single action makes sense for its name.

thanks alot, yeah the GIFs did turn out well.

i never really thought about wiping data from old hard drives this way but what a fantastic idea. Well, unless ricochet ever become an issue.

Fun post man... i really enjoyed it!

Haha yeah nothing like wiping via physical destruction of the platters.

I looked into the ricochet risk and from what I have read its mostly when you are using armor piercing rounds hitting very hard objects. I am shooting lead bullets so its not a risk like it would be with a hard round.

interesting. hi , i hear you like coffee. im javanese, indonesian

Yeah, I blend it with butter. I stick to grass fed unsalted and have been drinking it for years.

Perfect shot ! So much fun , you are at the perfect place .

Hah yeah hitting those hard drives were hard but glad I got them.

It sure is, surrounded by woods.

A 357 is one of my favorite rounds! My SW has a 6 in barrel, and my Wife loves it with 38 Special. It is a nice rifle round too!

🤠💙🤠

Ah nice, my King Cobra also holds six. I was considering a 38 special but if I come across big Bears in the woods it may not be good enough.

I have yet to shoot a .357 in a rifle.. actually did not know they had rifle with that ammo.. cool!

Henry makes a 357 in their Golden Boy, and it shoots both. 10 rounds in 357, and 11 in 38 Special. It is a sweet toy!

In the woods, mine would be loaded in 357 too, ROFLOL! We have just enough bears to have a Limited hunting season, but we do have cougars....

🤠

Oh cool, I need another lever action rifle. I sold my 30-30 Marlin (JM) and that was my only lever action. Maybe a .357 rifle would be fun.

Heh yeah we got cougars too, but they mostly stay away from people.

They are pretty shy here too, but they have populated enough now they can be shot if they become a problem.

I love a good 30-30! I have a couple, and I'm thinking about rebarreling an old French label that was 8mm black powder into 30-30, for fun.

That Henry rifle is a sweet shooter, and I'd recommend it to anyone! Good feel, good action, and spot on accurate....

With the pistol, it makes a good survival combination! Common ammo, and hits like an express train. Ballistically, it is a lot like a 30-30, or a 303 Enfield, or an AK-47; which are all decent rifles.

💗🤠👍
