Engage Community Manager - New Communities inbox feature

in HiveDevs4 years ago

Engage is a conversation and community management application that helps you to manage your incoming flow of posts and comments with a dedicated, non-distracting interface.

Communities

Communities are cool! They allow you to read posts related to the topics that interest you.

However, one of the main issues I have encountered with communities is that you have to constantly switch from one to the other to see new posts. It's also annoying having to repeatedly scroll down within a community feed to find the last post you read. Add to this that it's easy to miss posts if you've been away for a few days.

Introducing the Communities inbox

In the application toolbar, there is now a "Communities" button which allows you to display the list of posts from any Community you have subscribed to and have not yet read.

The list is limited to posts created in the last 7 days, delay after which they will no longer be displayed. However, you will still be able to view them through your usual Hive client.

Form performance reasons, Engage will only load up to 200 posts at a time.

Communities everywhere

Communities will now be displayed on posts recap for Comments, Mentions, Feed, Bookmarks and of course Communities

If you want to jump to the displayed Community, simply click on the tag and Engage will open the Community feed in your favorite Hive client.

Filtering authors in communities

As in the other inboxes, you can filter posts from authors you don't want to see.

If you click on the Ignore author button, the current post will be removed from the list as all other posts from the same author and Engage will no more display posts from this author published in the related community.

Author filtering is per community. Shall ignored author publish a post in another community, Engage will display it unless you also ask it to ignore post from this author in the other community.

Filtering authors in communities does not affect filtering in other inboxes.

How to disable Communities?

If you manage more than one account, some of them may not have subscribed to any community. It is then useless to have this button in your toolbar. You can therefore remove it via the configuration dialog:

This setting is defined per account, meaning you can have one account displaying communities while the others don't.

Other news and changes

Engage is now on State of the DApps!

State of the DApps is a not-for-profit curated directory of Decentralized Applications, also called DApps, which run on various blockchains, including Hive.

I'm happy to say that Engage has been added to their website. You can check it out here:

Minor bug fixes

  • fixed infinite loading when HiveSigner token has expired
  • fixed menu display is not readable when dark mode is selected
  • fixed refresh issue when adding a first manager
  • fixed code generating browser console error message

That's all for today. I hope that you will enjoy this new feature.
