Discovering Some More in Valheim

in Hive Gaming3 years ago

I haven't played as much Valheim as I've wanted to the past few days -- been too busy being a responsible adult -- however, this morning I found a bit of spare time to dedicate to my Virtual Viking Life and I made a few new discoveries! 😃

I'm not the type of person who will use google immediately to find out things about new games, instead preferring to figure out things myself, and my great discovery of today was... a vendor.

A vendor who sells a fishing rod! (Among other things)

In my last post I was speculating about fishing and thinking that at some point there'd be a way to craft a fishing rod, or fishing net, or something in order to catch the plethora of fish in the ocean... and now I know: you buy it from this mystery vendor.

He's hidden deep within the Black Forest, and I explored a lot before at last coming across him. And only found him completely by accident because we were off to kill the second boss -- The Elder.

Another great discovery I made was the handiest of things -- being able to mark areas on the map!

I thought that there would have to be a way to mark areas on the map, but for the life of me couldn't work it out. Until, completely by accident, my finger twitched and I double-clicked the map and the icon that was selected on the bottom right appeared on the map and I was able to type something.

Hallelujah!

And so, I ran around everywhere and started marking things of interest. Copper deposits mainly, but then I found villages that were... inhabited...

By draugr. Very dangerous draugr. 😬

So I marked them too so I could come back with backup and kill them. Groups of those were more difficult than the second boss!

Thanks to finally killing them though, we discovered a cooking material... entrails. Yep. Gross. But we can make sausages out of them! And those sausages fill you up for a -very- decent chunk of health and stamina.

I want to find more draugr and make ALL of the sausages! And I still need to test out my new fishing rod.

Before I do that though, I thought I should play around with the building menu and move out of our Communal Living Area.

See, my partner has a bad tendency in multiplayer games to completely take over everything. On Day One, before I had even collected enough wood and stone to make my first building hammer, he had already started building a shack and all of our beds and a bunch of chests. Then proceeded to build the fence around the perimetre, build an extension onto the shack, then build another building for storage jussstttt as I was getting used to where all our stuff lived at the time.

I'm not even sure if our other friends in-game have built anything -- I'm certain it's just all been my partner. I would also go out mining for materials, only to have him use them all for his own armour when I gathered them for other reasons, like a cultivator to finally begin farming carrots for delicious carrot soup that would benefit us all instead of just him. 🙄

So greedy.

So, today I decided to make my own personal area.

And I'd just like to say that over here, in my area, the bees are happy. And that makes me happy.

🐝🍯 Happy bees mean happy meads! 😁

Until next time,

Thanks for stopping by! 🐝

Great stuff! Me and my crew are close to where you guys are in terms of progression. Almost ready to take on the third boss. Just need to finish building out keep first.

Nice! 😃

I'm looking forward to get into these crypts with that swamp key that The Elder dropped, and finding some iron. Apparently once we find iron, we unlock the next lot of building materials. Would be nice to start building with stone!
