Getting Started in Terracore - New Hive Game

Terracore is a new space exploration mining game that has just been released in alpha testing on Hive. It has some great futuristic graphics and seems to have a great developing storyline.

To start playing, you first need to buy citizenship that gives you a token to be active in the game. It costs 10 liquid Hive. Once I clicked on purchase, I could get started in the game straight away.

Once that was done, I clicked on the claim button and it started earning myself some of the new $SCRAP token.

When you sign up, you also get 1 $SCRAP token that you can use in the game. I decided to use mine to improve my engineering. This seemed to improve my mining rate very slightly. Improving your engineering score is supposed to increase your $SCRAP mining rate.

After a while, my engineering score was going up nicely. Once my next $SCRAP was earned, I used it towards staking to try and increase my stash faster. According to the guide, the more you have staked in your stash, the more $SCRAP you can earn when idle.

As there is expected to lots of exploration in the game, you can also contribute $SCRAP to increase your favor and help unlock new planets. The next one is called Oceanea. Discovering new planets require all players to contribute to unlock them.

So far on the Hive Engine, the value of the $SCRAP token has been around 1 to 1,5 Hive. After around 30 mins, I seemed to have mined 0,2 $SCRAP which seemed quite good going.

You are able to get a new claim possibility every 4 hours. However, another important aspect of the game is that you do battle with other scrap collectors and you can battle them and steal their scrap and vice-versa.

This aspect of the game is still being developed further, but it is worth spending $SCRAP tokens to build up your attack and defense scores to protect you from others and also to make battling better as it can be quite lucrative.

I managed to battle a player called "luckyme" and steal his $SCRAP and quickly move it to the hive engine and sell it. He was not so lucky this time. But I have also been attacked and my haul of $SCRAP stolen too.. it is a double-edged sword.

I am usually looking for players who have a decent amount of $SCRAP to steal and low defense and favor scores. You have a higher chance of winning and get a higher % of their loot.

You can see that there are currently 424 registered players and 965 $SCRAP has been used to unlock the new planet Oceanea. It is worth to contribute because you gain a higher favor score that grants you access to more planets. I saw also it can also be favorable to you in regards to battles in the % of $SCRAP that can be stolen.

Summary

The game is still very new and there are some bugs being ironed out all the time, but the game itself seems like fun so far and an active community is building up in the discord chat too.

Currently, new signups have been limited for a short while but should be available again soon.
