Glontstone has arisen to stand before the Elden Ring...

...and she will become Elden Lord.

Those who followed my streams of Elden Ring already knows how much I love Elden Ring. One of the things I mentioned again and again was that I wanted to do a playthrough with magic. After finishing the game on my original character a little while ago I pretty much immediately created my intelligence based sorcerer named Glontstone.

When making a spellcaster in Elden Ring you kinda have three choices. You can make a faith-based character which lets you cast incantations. Incantations focus more on healing, support and close range damage. Or you can choose to make an intelligence based character which lets you cast sorceries that are more on the offensive side. You can also choose to combine the both.

I wanted to focus on sorceries for my playthrough and therefore I chose the astrologer class seeing as that was the starting class with the most intelligence. I named her Glontstone which is a wordplay between the word "glintstone" which is a magical substance in Elden Ring we hear about all the time. It also incorporates the word "glont" which is a local word from my city that means poop or shit. My character is basically named Shitstone.

What's the plan?

I have several plans for this character. My main goal is to get "Age of the Stars" achievement which means getting the ending from the Ranni questline. I also want to collect all of the sorceries in the game while doing so. I chose this route because I want my second playthrough to be as different as possible from my first one at least in terms of playstyle.

So far it's going pretty well. In the early game I ran around in the open world to collect all the easy to get sorceries and other helpful gear. I went for the Meteorite Staff which is lying out in the open in Caelid. It has pretty low requirements and an S scaling in intelligence. It's a beast of a early game weapon but in return it can't be upgraded. Eventually the weapons I find and upgrade will be stronger than this.

One of the things I don't like is the balancing between sorceries. I've picked up a lot of them so far and I feel like no matter what sorcery I get nothing beats the Glintstone Pebble sorcery that you start with. The low FP cost coupled with fast casting time just parks all the other sorceries in the dust. Loretta's Greatbow and Rock Sling are pretty good though if you can get a decent hit in. They have slow casting time and are quite FP-costly but they deal a great amount of damage. Rock Sling is really good for poise breaking as well.

The story so far...

I've made decent progress in my first 15 hours. I've taken down Godrick and Radahn as well as started the Ranni questline. I also cleared out Raya Lucaria but haven't defeated Rennala yet. I want to do Sellens questline so I'm saving her for that. I've also started Millicents questline again and I plan to complete that as well.

I've also made some different choices than what I did in my first playthrough. I've already gone and given Seluvis' potion to Nepheli and that let me learn some new sorceries from Seluvis. I later learned that I could have saved the potion and give it to the Dung Eater in the Leyndell Sewers instead so that I could receive his spirit ashes. That kinda sucks I locked myself out of that seeing as he's the strongest summon in the game. I still have Lhutel and Latenna though which are pretty strong.

My next steps now will be to collect the remaining sorceries I'm missing in Limgrave, Caelid and Liurnia before going up to the Altus Plateau. I am cheating a bit by using the Elden Ring map from Map Genie to keep track of what I've picked up and not and also where to find all the stuff. I pretty much did a full exploration of the game and found about 90% of what there was to find in my first playthrough and that took me 140 hours. I don't see much entertainment value in going through all the catacombs again only for about 10 of them to be useful to me.

I'll try and give out some updates on Glontstone's journey as it progresses. I also plan to do a dexterity based playthrough where I use Wolverine claws through pretty much the entire game. In that one I'm just going for the standard Elden Lord ending so it will be quite shorter that this.

I also plan to write up a proper review on Elden Ring so expect that in the near future.

Shitstone out.

Brother who would say that you already finished the content with your initial character;'), sorry I couldn't go more to see you much in streaming, I'm having problems with my internet provider since there are heavy rains in my city, how great to see your new character, the magic is a bit strong but it's very funny.

It's great that the game is not linear and you can look for everything you remember with your first character but at the same time maybe you get things that you don't visit for the first time in the initial zones, what you mention about the first spell being stronger than the ones you get at the beginning, that's a little boring because the fun is to vary between magics.

HAHAHA you will go full-on with Wolverine's claws, I hope to continue seeing your posts of Glontstone's tragic story. Best regards brother.

No worries my dude. I finished with my main character a few weeks back and haven't been streaming much since then anyways. Real life has been getting in the way.

Hope your internet is back to normal soon.

This would change your style of play quite a bit, I suppose it will be difficult at first for you to deal with the handling of Glontstone, which could well be called pooprock.

I'm killing most bosses with more ease than I did with my greatsword. Of course it helps that I know the bosses moves now. Pooprock will be a legend.

Que nombre tan peculiar jaja me hiciste sacar unas risas. ¿Existe la posibilidad de hacerte un piromántico? Un mago de fuego(?

There's a few dragon powers that deal fire damage and a few incantations. You would probably have to go for a faith build for that as far as I know.

I love how your character looks here, quite imposing, will you do a NG+ run?

PS: I want to see that review

I don't really enjoy NG+ runs in these games that much. Don't know why but I just like building new characters from scratch. I could have done NG+ with my original character and started off with all the sorceries from the get go.

spell slinging is so much fun in this game.

poopstone phalanx. 😂

interested in that review of yours. 😏

staff in one hand and sword in the other.. too cool..

Wordplay is really interesting, excellent game

They have a good ability of intelligence, it is important to change the style of play, especially in the first stage
