Este videojuego también fue raro debido a que no fue una versión que se hubiera lanzado para máquinas arcade, ya que mortal kombat desde su inicios debemos recordar que también logró ganar bastante fama debido a que era un videojuego bastante jugado en las máquinas de arcade en las tiendas que se dedicaban a adquirir máquinas de este tipo, debido a que inicialmente la versión de este videojuego fue lanzado para consolas caseras y para arcade la verdad que el videojuego inicialmente para las consolas domésticas no tuvo mucho éxito, por lo que se lanzó esta versión de forma posterior, en donde podemos encontrar gran cantidad de contenido a pesar de las limitaciones de dicha época, en este videojuego tendremos disponibles todos los personajes vistos en la saga hasta ahora, quitando a los personajes que han debutado en los videojuegos actuales, y también podíamos tener todos los escenarios clásicos del momento en dicho videojuego, además de que los personajes que podíamos utilizar era un gran rooster, también teníamos las posibilidad de utilizar a los jefes de videojuegos anteriores y poder jugar con ellos en el modo arcade, la fama que ganó este videojuego fue debido a que en mortal kombat trilogy también debutaron algunos personajes que son bastante famosos a día de hoy, uno de estos personajes es nada más y nada menos que Rain, así es , uno de los personajes que ha regresado a la saga mortal kombat formando parte del último kombat pack en mortal kombat 11 junto a Mileena y Rambo, este personaje debutó en este videojuego y logró dar mucho jugabilidad a los jugadores, y adquiriendo a su vez una gran base de fans, en la que la estética del personaje por su sencillez y habilidades agrado a muchos jugadores de esta saga.

Pero no solo rain debutó en este videojuego ya que pudimos conocer también a las 2 versiones del personaje Chameleon y Khameleon, la cantidad de contenido este videojuego fue abismal en su momento, además de que teníamos detalles como nuevos aspectos, además hasta día de hoy es el único videojuego de la saga de mortal kombat, en donde tenemos todas las variantes del tan característico aspecto del fatality en esta saga, es decir que además de los fatalitys, teníamos disponible técnicas como Brutality, Babality, Friendship e incluso Animality, este último aspecto nos dejaba transformar a nuestro personaje en un animal icónico que pudiera representar a la naturaleza del personaje y acabar con nuestro enemigo de igual forma, es decir un fatality pero realizado por un animal, por ejemplo si utilizábamos a Scorpion este se transformaba en un escorpión gigante para apuñalar repetidas veces a nuestro oponente para acabar desmembrando por completo el cuerpo del oponente en el combate, y como dato curioso es la única técnica a día de hoy que no hemos podido ver de nuevo representado en los videojuegos actuales, quizás veamos este aspecto volver en algún videojuego futuro de la saga o en alguna actualización para mortal kombat 11, también teníamos minijuegos implementados en el mismo videojuego en sí, de hecho el icónico grito de "toasty” hace un cameo en el escenario de arcades en mortal kombat 11, en donde podemos ver máquinas de arcade de las diferentes épocas y diferentes videojuegos de mortal kombat, y en mi opinión uno de los mejores escenarios de la saga, pero no podemos olvidar que mortal kombat trilogy es para muchos el videojuego más nostálgico de la saga.
