This time I am going to talk about one of those PSONE jewels that went unnoticed and never became so well known but that at least meets one of the characteristics already mentioned and it is about. . .
Saludos amigos de hive, espero hayan tenido una excelente jornada, y si no lo han tenido, pues espero que la tengan jaja, como ya les había mencionado antes, voy a reseñar viejos juegos, bien sean de consolas retro o más actuales, pero siempre y cuando valgan la pena volver a jugarlos, ya que podrían ser muy divertidos, entretenidos, tener una buena trama, una buena jugabilidad o todas las anteriores. En esta ocasión voy a hablar de una de esas joyas de PSONE que pasaron desapercibidas y nunca llegaron ser tan conocidas pero que al menos cumples con una de las características ya mencionadas y se trata de . . .

Unos recibirán una buena dosis de nostalgia y otros sólo los conocerán por sus famosos memes, pero en realidad, desde los años 40 hasta la actualidad este formato de persecución al parecer les ha funcionado a los estudios que estuvieron detrás de su animación, y a pesar de toda la violencia (porque la verdad si era bastante violenta) aún sigue teniendo un público fiel que le guarda cariño.
Con este juego tengo la ligera impresión de que el título hace guiño a lo que pudo haber sido un episodio del dúo famoso del gato y el ratón teniendo otra de sus famosas riñas dentro de la casa donde residen, el modo de juego es bastante simple, mantiene las mecánicas de los clásicos más antiguos del trap-em-up como “Space Panic”, “Lode Runner” o “Spy vs Spy” con el cual guarda más parecido.

Even though the game is just about the cat and mouse fighting each other until they are knocked out, there are a couple of special levels where you have more important secondary tasks than just knocking out your opponent, like saving the ducklings, waking up Spike or stop Tom from giving gifts to Toodles Galore, the female white cat Tom has always had a crush on. Among the many objects that you can use as weapons, some do more damage than others, for example, while you play you will notice that the damage of the bat is much greater than that of the umbrella, it also applies to thrown objects such as the fish tank and the bowling ball, and also for traps that are placed on the ground such as the jelly and the tacks.
Al empezar una partida en el modo de 1 jugador, verás que la pantalla se divide en 2, aunque para algunos resulte incómodo jugar de esta manera, cuentas con la ventaja de que puedes ver lo que tu contrincante hace cuando no está en la misma habitación, bien sea contra el COM o el jugador 2 la pantalla siempre estará dividida. Conforme vayas avanzando en el juego, te irás dando cuenta de que se tiene acceso a más habitaciones en esa casa, desbloqueando de esta manera no sólo las habitaciones en sí, sino también nuevos artilugios, utensilios y armas para combatir.
A pesar de que el juego se trata sólo del gato y el ratón peleándose entre sí hasta estar noqueados, hay un par de niveles especiales en donde tienes tareas secundarias más importantes que sólo noquear a tu oponente, como salvar a los patitos, despertar a Spike o evitar que Tom de obsequios a Toodles Galore, la gata blanca de la que siempre estuvo enamorado Tom. Entre el montón de objetos que puedes usar de armas, algunos hacen más daño que otros, por ejemplo, mientras juegas notarás que el daño del bate es mucho mayor al que hace el paraguas, aplica también para los objetos arrojadizos como la pecera y la bola de bolos, y también para las trampas que se colocan en el suelo como la gelatina y las tachuelas.

El escenario también puede ser usado a tu favor si activas un objeto específico de la habitación, por ejemplo, en el caso de la cocina, está el refrigerador, el cual si lo activas, tanto tú como tu oponente podrían ser afectados por el refrigerador si pasan por el rango de activación, aunque igual se puede evitar si pasas lo suficientemente alejado, es decir, hay una distancia específica para que se active y logre hacer daño a quien lo haya activado. El juego no cuenta una historia en sí, básicamente sólo se trata de familiarizarte un poco con el entorno para poder elaborar estrategias y trampas que sirvan para derrotar a tu oponente, pero siempre tomándolas en cuenta en todo momento ya que podrías caer en una de las trampas que habrías armado, de resto sólo debes usar los objetos que encuentres para atacar bien sea al COM o al jugador 2.

There are a couple more Tom & Jerry games that came out during those years, both for the Nintendo 64 and for the PS2, which are identical to each other, but they are not as similar to the PSONE version, since in those versions you are only In a room where objects appear, which you use to attack your opponent, in addition to also attacking them with your fists and the stage itself is very closed, the only good thing I would say that these two versions have is that you can choose which character you want to be in arcade mode and you can also choose several of the secondary characters of the classic series such as Spike, Butch and Nibbles. Personally, I like this version of PSONE more, I find it much more entertaining, fun and even hilarious despite all the violence and it is not limited to combat only, as who says, it is not about the graphics but about the game itself.
La verdad es muy divertido y gracioso, me ha llegado a sacar más de una buena carcajada, además cuenta con los efectos de sonido característicos de la caricatura, así que al jugar no sólo te divertirás combatiendo a tu oponente, sino que sentirás que revives algún viejo episodio de la versión clásica de Tom & Jerry, además es uno de esos juegos que se disfruta aún más si lo juegas con un amigo.
Hay un par de juegos más de Tom & Jerry que salieron durante esos años, tanto para el Nintendo 64 como para PS2, las cuales son idénticas entre sí, pero no son tan parecidas a la versión de PSONE, ya que en esas versiones sólo estás en una habitación donde van apareciendo objetos, los cuales usas para atacar a tu oponente, además de también atacarlos con los puños y el escenario en sí es muy cerrado, lo único bueno que diría que tienen estas dos versiones es que puedes elegir que personaje quieres ser en el modo arcade y que además también puedes elegir a varios de los personajes secundarios de la serie clásica como lo son Spike, Butch y Nibbles. En lo personal me gusta más esta versión de PSONE, me parece mucho más entretenida, divertida e incluso graciosa a pesar de toda la violencia y no se limita al combate solamente, como quien dice, no se trata de los gráficos sino del juego en sí.

Siempre disfruté esos juegos de PSONE basados en caricaturas, recuerdo con mucho cariño Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider, el que reseñaste particularmente nunca lo jugé, pero amo como envejecieron los gráficos de ese tipo de juegos. Buen post! Saludos
Ese "Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider" me lo han recomendado bastante, quizás lo emule algún día y lo reseñe jaja, pero te recomiendo bastante este título, si tienes tiempo, busca a quien sea, quien se atreva y jueguen los dos, merece la pena jugarlo, y si viste la serie original, notarás el montón de efectos de sonido carácterísticos de la versión clásica, una buena carga de nostalgia y par de carcajadas están aseguradas, yo recuerdo éste título con mucho cariño por todo eso y la jugabilidad desde aquella época dorada! gracias por tu comentario <3 , Salu2!!
