Adding more members to the garden and sharing some methods how propagating them.

For me, gardening does not depend on how many plants have died in your garden journey to discourage you but on continuing your efforts to fill in whatever can be added to your crops. I know it is not easy and you need a lot of diligence and patience before you can reap the rewards. So for those who are discouraged there, don't believe that you can't because you don't have a green thumb, it is just a matter of effort and perseverance.

For today I want to share with you my new members in my garden and I will tell you how I grew them or will make them grow so that the new ones in the garden can also come up with these ideas.

chayote

A few weeks ago I purchase a few pieces of chayote and there was one left that haven't been used and the skin began to wrinkle so I think of trying to propagate them for the second time. It's a second time already because last year I did try to grow it and it succeeds and already started to glide but it was then the typhoon came and killed most of our crops. What I did to this to propagate is I wash the chayote with water and then place it in a plastic bag and close it tightly then I place it on a cabinet. After 3 days the roots come out and they started to sprout so I think it's already good to put in a pot with soil before transferring to the soil bed and just today after 4 days this is its progress.

I planted the whole chayote and on the fourth day it now has grown leaves and I also saw new roots.

purple sweet potato

taken 5 days after the first procedure.

Same as my chayote this was purchased the other week because I liked the variety of this sweet potato because apart from its purple colour, the quality of its tuber is also different from the previous ones I tried to cook and especially the sweet potato plant that I have at home is different from it so I tried to propagate through of the sweet potato tuber.

My apology for forgetting to take photos in the first step of the procedure. What I did is I looked for the bottom and the top part of the sweet potato then I cut a few inches at the bottom and then insert 4 sticks equally into each side of the centre part so it can stand while we soak the bottom part of sweet potato with water to allows rooting to produce stems.

Now the stalks have matured and can be planted in the ground so this sundown I will transfer it so that it can regrow a stem again and I will cut the bottom part so that it can root again.

lemongrass and spring onions

And since my son is also celebrating his birthday on Saturday, we have leftover lemongrass and spring onions and it's a pity to throw them away, so what I did was I soaked them in water first and yesterday I planted them so it will be useful in the future.

Before planting them in the soil I cut their old roots and cut a few leaves so it's easy for them to regrow.

These are all new members of my garden there is no certainty at all but we will do everything we can to make our work successful.

I hope you learn something today garden lovers. Surely I'll be giving all the updates soon. Just don't be discouraged whatever it takes and keep on gardening. 😉
