Harvesting... finally! [Eng/Esp]

Waiting and being patient is not one of my virtues, so gardening is putting me to the test, but luckily after a few months I was able to harvest my first cherry tomatoes!

Hello #hivegarden friends, I hope you are feeling great and ready to enjoy the weekend. Today I wanted to stop by to tell you the good news, and that is that I was finally able to harvest some tomatoes from my little plants, so I come with a new report!

For those of you who don't know the story of my cherry tomatoes, I have been making regular reports on the progress of four plants that we transplanted at home without any hope that they would survive because they germinated in the same hole and their roots were intertwined, but in spite of what I thought, they managed to survive!

They began to grow super well despite being planted in pots and being located in one of the windows of my house and after a while in bloom without obtaining any fruit, I discovered that it could be because the flowers were not being visited by insects that will help fertilization, so I tried hand pollination, which luckily worked and a few weeks later began to appear a few small green bumps.

And that's how my first cherry tomatoes started to grow.

By that time I was super happy because I was sad to see so many flowers die, so the day I saw the first tomato peeking out in the middle of a small flower I was overcome with happiness, but I really had no idea how long I would have to wait to be able to harvest the first ones.

In my ignorance of all this I could swear that in a few days they would be ready, but after they grow it takes them some time to take that red color I wanted to see so much, so every day I checked them. Not just looking for new tomatoes, but hoping to notice some indication that they were about to ripen. But they took their time training my patience.

And suddenly one day in one of my afternoon checks, I could notice in one of the tomatoes a very clear red and that day was for me the happiest and to see that something that you take care of so lovingly respond positively is quite an achievement, is the validation of all the care I give them, because although my husband is aware of the irrigation, I am the one who prunes them, cleans and places new soil for them, so for me it was super exciting when they began to ripen.

But even after they start to take color, you have to wait ANOTHER few days for them to finish coloring completely red and finally be able to cut them off the plant, which of course I wanted to do, but my son Matías denied me that pleasure since he was the one who planted them! And although I wasn't the one who harvested the first one, I was very happy to see the excitement with which he did it*.

From then on I was waiting for others to ripen to show them together in my hand. But guess what? That takes time too!!! And of course it does, they are not all going to ripen on the same day, so I had to be extremely patient to be able to take this photo with my cherry tomatoes in my hand! But finally the day came.

They still have a lot of flowers and all four are still producing tomatoes, which makes me happy, although I haven't been able to make my salad yet, because hey, there are only four plants and all tomatoes grow and ripen at different rates, so I think I should plant four more and maybe that way, instead of showing you the tomatoes in my hand I will show them in the salad or in some mini pizzas.

Esperar y ser paciente no es una de mis virtudes, así que la jardinería me está poniendo a prueba, pero por suerte después de unos meses pude cosechar mis primeros tomates cherry!

Hola amigos de #hivegarden, espero se encuentren genial y ya listos para disfrutar del fin de semana. Hoy quise pasar a contarles las buenas nuevas, y es que por fin pude cosechar algunos tomates de mis plantitas, así que vengo con un nuevo reporte!

Para los que no conocen la historia de mis tomates cherry, les comento que he estado haciendo reportes regulares del progreso de cuatro plantas que trasplantamos en casa sin ninguna esperanza de que sobrevivieran por haber germinado las cuatro en un mismo hoyo y sus raíces estaban entrelazadas, pero muy a pesar de lo que yo pensaba ellas lograron sobrevivir.

Comenzaron a crecer súper bien a pesar de haber sido sembradas en macetas y estar ubicadas en una de las ventanas de mi casa y después de un tiempo en floración sin lograr obtener ningún fruto, descubrí que podía deberse a que las flores no estaban siendo visitadas por insectos que ayudarán a la fecundación, por lo que intenté la polinizacion manual, cosa que por suerte funcionó y a las pocas semanas comenzaron a aparecer unos pequeñitos bultos verdes.

Y de esa manera comenzaron a crecer mis primeros tomates cherry.

Para ése momento yo estaba súper feliz pues me daba tristeza ver tantas flores morir, así que el día que vi el primer tomate asomarse en medio de una pequeña flor me invadió la felicidad, pero realmente no tenía idea de cuánto tendría que esperar para poder cosechar los primeros.

En mi desconocimiento de todo esto yo podía jurar que en unos pocos días estarían listos, pero luego de crecer les lleva algo de tiempo tomar ése color rojo que tanto yo quería ver, así que todos los días las revisaba. No sólo en busca de nuevos tomates, sino esperando notar algún indicio de que estaban a punto de madurar. Pero ellas entrenando mi paciencia se tomaron su tiempo.

Y de repente un día en una de mis revisiones de la tarde, pude notar en uno de los tomates un rojo muy clarito y ése día fue para mí de lo más feliz y es que ver que algo que cuidas con tanto cariño responder de manera positiva es todo un logro, es la validación de todo el cuidado que les doy, pues si bien mi esposo está al tanto del riego, soy yo quien las poda, limpia y coloca tierra nueva para ellas, así que para mí fue súper emocionante cuando comenzaron a madurar.

Pero incluso después que comienzan a tomar color, hay que esperar OTROS días más para que termine de colorearse completamente de rojo y finalmente poder cortarlo de la planta, cosa que por supuesto yo quería hacer, pero mi hijo Matías me negó ese gusto ya que fue el quien las plantó! Y aunque no fuí yo quien cosechó el primero, me dió mucha alegría ver la emoción con la que él lo hizo.

De ahí en adelante estuve esperando que otros maduraran para mostrarles algunos juntos en mi mano. Pero adivinen?? Eso también toma tiempo!!! Y por supuesto que es así, no todos van a madurar el mismo día, así que he debido ser sumamente paciente para poder tomar esta foto con mis tomates cherrys en la mano! Pero finalmente llegó el día.

Ellas aún tienen muchas flores y las cuatro siguen produciendo tomates, cosa que me tiene feliz, aunque aún no he podido hacer mi ensalada, porque oigan, son sólo cuatro plantas y todos los tomates crecen y maduran a diferente ritmo, así que creo debo sembrar unas cuatro más y quizás de esa manera, en lugar de mostrarles los tomates en mi mano se los muestre en la ensalada o en unas mini pizza.
