Hard Raindrops - Drooping Flowers - Huge Vegetables

in HiveGarden2 years ago

The heavy rains have been rough on my flower gardens. The veggies on the other hand are loving this season's weather. My plants are growing so fast and I have been harvesting the herb bed constantly. How are your gardens coming along so far? I will share a few photos as I promised to keep posting on this year's progress.

The Chinese Cabbage plants are growing enormously due to the rains. I have to start picking some of the outer leaves but have been so busy with harvesting the Swiss Chard and Garlic Scapes this week. The Globe Raddish was ready too so I have been preserving something every day.

Garlic Scapes

I will be making a nice Garlic Pesto out of the scapes today. Yummy!

Lettuce

I have barely kept up with eating all the lettuce this spring and now it is starting to bolt. So I may pick it all and dry it to a powder to add to the Super Greens mix I have been making.

Snow Peas

I have to say I think the Snow Peas have been extra sweet this year. Or, perhaps I just missed having them all winter.

Azalea Before The Rain

After The Rain

The blossoms fell quickly off my favorite Azalea after one of the hard rains and now new leaves are showing.

Well, that is it for this week's garden post as I have tons of work to do. The weeding needs to be done all around the yard before they go to seed and give me a hard time next year, lol. Happy gardening to my Hive friends.

Until next time, this is Sunscape

Thank you @afterglow The peonies were outstanding this season.

You're welcome (^_^)

Flowers look a little sad after the rains, perhaps they will pick up when sunshines brightly once again.

Veggie garden is looking great, plenty to store for months when nothing grows, never heard of lettuce being dried, but then we live in a temperate climate where most things will grow.

Have a wonderful week and thanks for sharing.

Hello Joan, The flowers perked up for a day and it rained again so that pretty much finished them off for this year. I did dry the lettuce yesterday to add to my greens powder which was better than throwing it away. I am going to plant a new round next week after the 4th of July weekend is over. Have a wonderful day and week my friend.

There hasn't been much rain here so far this summer, so I'm having to water everything. That's if I don't forget...

Well, maybe I should send some rain your way, lol. We have had rain every week so watering has been minimal, which is okay with me. Happy gardening and don't forget to water the plants.

We've had gentle rain this week, not enough of it, but it didn't wreck the flowers. The heat last weekend did that. All your plants look so good! And that peony was stunning, as was the azalea.

Thank you, I do love my plants and enjoy them each year. Hopefully, you get a nice rain to help your gardens take off. We have had rain every week now and that has made a huge difference in the produce so far. My plants are all setting fruit wonderfully. Happy gardening!

Oh, no! Your wonderful lupines look so sad now. While I appreciate the rain, it has damaged plants in my garden too. :-(

It is so sad when the rains ruin them after we wait so long for them to look lovely in the garden. I feel your pain! :-(

Look at you!! Do you dry lettuce? Seriously? I have never heard of it, but, I will say that means not much. I don't always keep up on those types of things.

The rain has done in some of my things, but, your peonies!! I wait all year for them and the lupines are sad. :) The rain really took out some of the flowers, but, look at your veggie garden! Nice! And abundant!

The harvest looks awesome!

Hahaha, I did dry my lettuce due to it bolting so I didn't want to waste it. I will add it to my super greens mix for smoothies and other dishes. I finally cut back all the drooping flowers and now the garden is rebounding nicely. Everything is coming in so quickly this season due to the nice rain each week. Now, I just have to keep up with it all, lol. Happy 4th to you!

Happy 4th!! 😊

I understand prettu well that feeling! Here when there's no rain, many plants struggle to survive, while others do fine. But when it rains, many thrive but some have a hard time due to the excess of water! you have a beautiful garden!

Thank you very much, the weather is like a rollercoaster this year. Dry then wet. But the gardens are surviving.

Yes it is! Here the rainy season started too soon this year and there has been too many tropical storms so the rain has been torrential

Oh! Dear! Rain too hard!
We also had the same condition!😂

Nature doing what nature does. The plants needed the rain though. ;-) Have a great week my friend.

Thank you very much. 🙏💐🌺🌹

Rain is synonymous with life, thank you for sharing the progress you have made in your garden. Beautiful photos.
