ASEAN HIVE CHALLENGE (ANIMAL PHOTOGRAPHY): Appreciating the sacrifices and beauty of the animals

In this world, human needs something to survive and to survive, they need to raise some animals. Since we were born, we have gotten used to eating some pork, beef, and chicken in our everyday lives. It's just sad to think that animals are the ones who are suffering and sacrificing themselves just so we can survive and live a longer life, but we couldn't do anything about it since even the first humans on earth did that, and we just learned from them.

Just like how these animals from the farms. My grandparents raised a goat, cao, chicken, duck, pig, and even a rabbit. They were raised because they have different purposes aside from eating them on occasion. But they also raised them because they would sell them to other people when they grew up.

If I remember it right, my grandparents raised a pig even when I was not yet born. They are taking care of pigs, and they could sell them to other people. The money that they earned from raising pigs helped my aunt and uncle graduate from college.

As of now, my grandparents are still raising pigs for additional income since they are old, and sometimes they need to raise pigs for months for special occasions because if you raise some pigs, you can save some money when there's an occasion, and you don't need to buy a lechon for other people because it's so expensive. Actually, this pig will be served as food on my grandparents' wedding anniversary this June.

So I decided to take a picture of this pig with a theme of vintage—an old picture of a pig that sacrificed himself for a special occasion in our family.

Just like pigs, Cattle in our country also sacrifice themselves. Not only Carabao, but Bulls and Cows also sacrifices a lot of hard work to help the Filipinos on the farm. Farmers use male (Bulls) or female (cows) on the farm to develop idle land, and aside from this, they also use them for transporting produce down the hills to the village. Cows also produce milk, and many farmers make this their product and sell it in the market.

If we talk about animals, there is this one animal that shocked me last year. Yes, you read it right only last year. I also had an argument with some people I knew because I was very sensitive about "cute things being killed by humans."

Because who wouldn't think that this kind of animal could also be served as food? I really have no idea about it, and when I knew about it, I didn't believe it until I watched Alice in Wonderland, and yeah, they were right.

They also said that rabbit meat is healthier than other sources of meat that we used to eat. But for me, I couldn't eat them because they were too cute, and I felt sad when I saw people raise them and sell them to other people. And now, there are a lot of people in our country—not only here in our province but around the Philippines—who are raising rabbits and using them as a new source of income.

I am glad that my younger cousin is just raising rabbits because they're his pets and he loves them. That's why, when I saw these cute rabbit when I got home after a months of vacation in my Sister's place, I couldn't help but to watch them outside of their cage and I was amazed of their red eyes. I wish the color of my eyes was red too!

CONCLUSION:

Animals lives are very precious. Especially those animals that sacrifice themselves just so we can live a longer life. I think they deserve to take a photo as a way of appreciating their beauty and the fact that they exist in our lives. Too bad, I am not good at taking pictures or editing photos, but I hope that you like the pictures that I uploaded above.

Anyway, I used the Snapseed and Lightroom applications to edit these photos because I wasn't satisfied with the camera effects on my phone

Ive had kind of bad experiences with rabbits as pets but I think that is because I have always had dogs and cats and sometimes these guys don't really get along :) Yours are very cute though!

Aww. I saw some posts about an owner too before that his dog k!lled his rabbit maybe because the dog thought that his rabbit is a food like how they chase chicken. Thanks! But the rabbits are not mine. Hehe

There was a guy I knew that had a dog, a cat, and a rabbit. The dog would follow the rabbit and eat the little rabbit poops and the cat wanted to kill the rabbit. The dog would protect the rabbit from the cat and anytime the dog went for a walk with the owner they would have to put the rabbit in a cage to keep the cat away from it. Anytime they would come back from a walk the cat was always at the cage harassing the rabbit and the dog would immediately go after the cat and chase it away. It was a crazy little house.

Mag vevegetarian kana ba jam?

I relate to the pig part too~

And why do u want your eyes to be red 😆, you'd be judge as someone doing drugs if that happens.. Jk..😂
Rabbits red eyes are beautiful, yes 🥹 cutiee

Hahahaha malapit na kung dilang ako mataba e 🥹

bampira kashe dapat 🤣 wag naman yung super red sa white sa mata 🤧 oo halata nakong naka drgs nun. hahaha

A lot people say talaga rabbit meat is good, pero I cant force myself to eat them.

Hehe

Those rabbits are so cute. I realize they are for meat, but as a vegan I see a life as life, no need to culturally judge who chooses what meat to eat. I grew up eating a lot of turtles and frogs, and to some people I realize this is strange. In Cambodia eating dog is not uncommon, and next door in Thailand it is illegal, so I do my best to just try and respect each country's norms.

I grew up on a farm too, although we didn't raise any animals for meat. We grew popcorn and also trained horses for western cowboy riding and races. I always thought this was strange, but did you know in the USA we call a pig a hog if it weighs more than 120 lbs?

Oh yes, vegan people doesn't care about what those meat because they are just focusing on eating a lot of healthy foods rather than eating a meat that is not too good in our health.

I grew up eating a lot of turtles and frogs, and to some people I realize this is strange.

Actually, I was shocked after reading that you are eating turtles. I understand about the frog because we also eat that here, but when I searched on Google to see if we can eat turtle, it was said that turtle meat can also be used in soups and stews, and turtle meat has a lot of protein too. Wow! Meanwhile, in our country, if I remember it right, eating turtle is so risky, as there have been some people who got sick after eating turtle meat.

In Cambodia eating dog is not uncommon, and next door in Thailand it is illegal, so I do my best to just try and respect each country's norms.

Me too. I'm trying my best not to curse those people who eat dog meat. But most of the time, I couldn't help but make comments about people who do bad things to dogs when I saw them with my own eyes or read about them in the news. But yeah, I couldn't do anything about it.

I grew up on a farm too, although we didn't raise any animals for meat. We grew popcorn and also trained horses for western cowboy riding and races.

Oh really? Well, maybe because of different reasons or because it depends on the business owner and the land of the country. Right? Horses here in the country are used for tourist spots like Baguio City.

I always thought this was strange, but did you know in the USA we call a pig a hog if it weighs more than 120 lbs?

Yes! I knew that. However, I just called it "Pig," the pig in the photo of what I uploaded above, as an example. I also didn't know the weight of this pig because we hadn't measured it yet.

Speaking of pictures, I really didn't know if it was allowed to use a filter and edit the photos using editor applications for this entry because it wasn't included in the mechanics or instructions on your blog post. So, I hope it's still qualified, and can I get your opinion or comment about the photos that I uploaded above? And lastly, thank you for your time reading!

I think you're right, eating turtles seems weird to me now, it's definitely not as common now as it was when I was a kid. When I was young we also ate fried cow brain sandwiches, and the whole "mad cow disease" thing wiped that food out of existence.

Your photos are fine, editing is expected. I would edit my photos more if I knew what I was doing, but I stick to cropping, brightness, and contrast, otherwise I am venturing into uncharted waters 😅.
