Ganja Legalized For Health & Healing

in The Herbal Hive2 years ago (edited)

Thailand took a HUGE step forward yesterday on the global herbal stage when it legalized Ganja fully for growing, usage, cultivation and sale. But primarily for health & healing, celebrating the traditional way Ganja has been used in Asian culture.

The delisting of cannabis as a narcotic does not mean people can use it freely, especially for recreation. Homegrown cannabis is allowed only for health and medical purposes, and people have to register the cultivation first with provincial administrative organisations, or via the mobile application Pluk Kan, developed and operated by the Food and Drug Administration.
Despite the legal easing, extracts containing more than 0.2% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, will still be recognised as a Category 5 substance and regulated under laws pertaining to narcotics control and suppression. Source

Government funded Cannabis Clinics have existed here in Thailand for more than 2 years already, and it's easy to get an affordable CBD oil prescribed for all kinds of conditions, from fibromyalgia, insomnia, stress and anxiety to MS, cancer and more. How affordable? A visit to the hospital cannabis clinic and a medical check, plus prescription and supply of a CBD oil (of which there are 8 different strains and formulas) will set you back less than USD $20. No medical insurance required, and tourists and expats are as welcome as Thai nationals. The service includes a follow up phone call daily for 7 days from the hospital pharmacy, to ensure the prescription is suitable and there are no unmanageable side effects. Yes, that is how public medicine SHOULD be - herbal and affordable for everyone!!

The official delisting that happened yesterday means I can now pop on over to my local plant nursery and buy inexpensive ganja seeds and plants to grow and manage in my own home.

People ARE required to register if they grow at home, but it's easily done via a free app. Yesterday morning, in the fist 5 hours, over 150,000 people downloaded and registered.

FDA secretary-general Dr Paisarn Dunkum said the regulation allows people to grow hemp and cannabis after registering with the FDA via plookganja.fda.moph.go.th or the "ปลูกกัญ" mobile app.
Dr Paisarn said that apart from the online registration requirement, growers will not have to seek permission to cultivate plants.
After registering, people can grow and use cannabis or hemp for medical and commercial purposes. Source

It should be noted that bringing cannabis products into Thailand (importing or carrying in your luggage or on your person) remains a crime. They want you to buy local.

My weekend project? Get my self registered, and work through the steps to register my Thai herbal business to be able to incorporate hemp and ganja oils into our beeswax balms, commercially.

What really struck me though watching the huge reaction online yesterday? The vastly different reactions from expats (particularly men) and the Thai people. Our Thai friends were excited to get a few plants to be able to brew Ganja tea to help grandmas insomnia and arthritis. The expats? Boring in the extreme, moaning and whinging about low THC content only and all sorts of posts and comments about people wanting to run around and get wasted. There are days I despair about the western way of thinking and the endless need for escapism.

4,000 prisoners nationwide serving time for cannabis related offences were released yesterday - their criminal records for those "offences" will be deleted.

Loving to see the celebration of herbal culture here in Thailand.

Wow - 4000 people returned to their families! That's incredible!!!!

OOOH, so exciting! I really need to get some seeds for some more surreptitious growing here for medicinal things like balms or oils. If I can find the time. Currently am into amanitas and wanting to experiment a little - a vast body of knowledge to study anyway. Post a pic of an amanita on Facebook and watch everyone pedantically and ignorantly say 'pretty, but DEADLY poisonous!'. Oh, fuck off lol.

I appreciate you coming past to comment on my posts so I KNOW you've written a post - I kept checking but figured you were busy!

I actually comment on your latest post most times when I log in. Remember Keni? He always taught us from Day 1 to go and comment on 12 others everytime we post. And I just happen to have thought that was a great piece of advice and I do that still, mostly. You happen to be on my A list. x

Amanitas. Oh yeah. In the wake of the ganja doors opening, we now have 25 million posts today about the harm caused to children from ganja. LOL. Cos no one is feeing them coke, red bull, GMOs, trasnfars, endless sugar etc etc?? The MINDSET "out there" does my head in.

It would be amazing but highly unlikely if more country's woke up to the reality of herbal healing as far as certain "illegals" are concerned

It would be amazing if many countries WOKE UP, period. To organic, solar, no war, child-led-learning, blockchain, etc etc etc Ganja grows like a weed here and it seems will be far more profitable for the Thai economy than only rice.

Nice to see you here, btw. x

Sucks you have to register, but that is better then nothing. Do you think they will lift the restrictions on high THC strains of cannabis?

Thailand (and many countries) require you to register for everything 😆- I mean, ID cards and the whole 9 yards. It is what it is. It SEEMS (although the letter of the new law not yet well clarified) that the high THC strains ARE allowed but one may not sell high THC EXTRACTS or PRODUCT without registration. It is all a work in progress and a good step forward.

Literally in 48 hours flat we have food vans selling ganja products along side spicy noodles and coconuts. Feels good to have the more natural world being celebrated.

Dear @artemislives, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago when the HBD stabilizer proposal rose above it.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work?
You can do it on Peakd, Ecency,

All votes are helpful and yours will be much appreciated.
Thank you!

You CAN use it for textiles and numbing yourself stupid... 😁 The fuss about Ganja bewilders me a bit, since ganja is definitely NOT the most potent healing plant... there are so many more and better but far less well known. I guess I'm just happy to see all movement away from the control of Big Pharma and movement towards the celebration of traditional herbalism, which in Thailand includes Ganja.

Thai people find it disrespectful to call it 'weed" btw. Sort of an insult to the healing power of the plant spirits in what is still fundamentally an animist culture.

Appreciated your comment. 😊
